I have been boycotting Canada continually for many years now and this practice continues. We need more people to boycott. Please spread the word to all your family, friends, neighbors and co-workers. We need to hit the 'tipping point' to be effective in stopping this horrific and unnecessary slaughter of baby seals. Also, write, email or call your elected government officials. The squeaky wheel gets the oil!!

I do not eat seafood in any case! I have been a staunch vegetarian for over 34 years and am now virtually vegan.

I have a photo of a mother seal who has tears trickling down her furry cheeks as she gazes helplessly at her murdered, skinned baby. I have seen footage of mother seals coming up to the corpses of their murdered, skinned pups after the hunters have left, and the mothers sometimes nuzzle the head of the corpse, in a helpless fashion, as though hoping against hope that somehow the pup can be brought back to life again. They are reluctant to just abandon their murdered, blood-soaked young on the ice. The bereaved mothers also howl with grief, you know! No one will ever convince me that they do not feel sorrow at the ruthless murder and flaying of their helpless infants. The mother seals are almost as helpless. They sit on the ice, a short distance away, watching, unable to intervene or to save their babies!

Signed and noted, thank you. This has been going on for far too long! When will humans start to realise, it is not the seals that are the problem here, it is out right selfish human greed and population growth! This is a crime to the utmost, when will it be seen as such, but then, look at the Japanese and their ignorance towards the dolphins! Equally as bad! I can not understand how the $ has more power over the heart! I hope they will be haunted when they are old and grey, sitting there helpless and in comes someone with a base bat! Play time!

I've been boycotting Canada and it's products for 15 years. Used to vacation in Canada a lot and still have many places I want to see, but refuse to give them any of my money until this seal slaughter stops. I have stopped going and have encouraged all my friends to boycott Red Lobster because they still buy Canadian sea food.

F*%king Canadians. They're the first to tell you how barbaric Americans are. They need to look in the mirror. I had to "pleasure" of meeting some Canadians not too long ago and the topic of the baby seal slaughter came up. They actually tried to defend it by claiming that the hunt promotes "survival of the fittest". How the hell does one think the fittest baby seals survive a baseball ball attack? Needless to say, it wasn't a friendly conversation. Only a psychopath could defend this practice.

Whether they be seals, dolphins, whales, wolves etc. etc., it will be not be if but rather when humans will pay the ultimate price for all what they are doing to the true species of nature namely animals but as we all know it will be too late, for humans that is.

At the rate we are going right now, when may come much sooner then we think. The clock is ticking and it is time to wake up or sleep forever......................

This is so clearly Canada's Walk of Shame! After all publicity at the Olympics you'd have thought that Canada would bend - but until Canada's seafood is boycotted nothing will change and it makes me so mad that our taxpaying dollars are subsidizing this slaughter - unforgiveable! People of the world unite and we will no longer tolerate animals abuses!

I can't imagine a country as beautiful and great as Canada boils down to being no better than China and Japan in terms of animal abuse - Nice Stephen Harper!

Knew about this years ago when Brian Davies used to go documenting the seal hunts. Canada isn't some third world country populated by a bunch of illiterate peasants. They can read English, they are aware of all the bad press about sealing printed in their own native tongue. And they still do it! I feel sorry for the Canadians that have hearts, but you guys are the only ones that will sway your own people to stop.
I lived in Mexico. There are a lot of Canadian ex-pats there that have to go back home every 6 months to keep their medical. We need them in on the action too! Come on guys...let's hear it for the seals!

Disgusting, inhuman and inhumane!!! These sadists are actually living amongst normal people. They should be named and shamed for the murderers that they are. How can they possibly look their children in their eyes knowing that they have the blood of SOOOOOOOOO many innocents on their hands !!

Most Canadians do not support sealing. But everyone knows that where there is a market for seal fur then this abuse will continue and unfortunately the government protects the industry (God knows why), it is kind of like factory farming and has been lucrative in the past. Let the rest of the world stop buying the skins then it will stop.

I am going to put my 2 cents in , When the babies are killed they are generally between 3 and 12 weeks of age .
Boycotting does not work , not everyone is going to do it . Granted you may have the few animal lovers out there that will do it but that is a small population compared to the rest of the world. How many petitions have been signed ... granted the EU ban is in place , but that doesn't affect countries such as China and Korea . If you keep up with the latest news you would know that Korea is now working with the Canada government on the seal hunt ... there is a bigger picture then boycotting everything Canada..

Denise P (1)
Monday November 29, 2010, 2:13 pm
Kelly M. The article didn't say 'boycott all things Canadian'. Where did you get the idea that we don't know about China or Korea? What are you doing to stop the seal hunt in Canada, since you disagree with FriendsForSeals.Org, Sea Shepherd, International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW), HSUS, and many others that know the boycott will stop the fishermen from slaughtering the seals?
