This and the millions that go hungry every day, is America. Our priorities are a mess, we are so indoctrinated to believe that these are bad, or lazy people that it becomes difficult for people to see another side that isn't as extreme. Things are not just black and white - good and bad, shades of grey is where people get lost and good ideas flounder. We supplement the incomes of corporations, but have a very poor system to aid families hit so hard by the economic crisis. How is it we can afford to bail out corporations that screw us all, and to give a family in need some help is branded as the evil ways of socialism and communism gone rampant. America really needs to look inward, and learn that helping hands begin at home.

the illumination foundation of orange county california reports that o.c. has the 2nd highest per capita homeless population in the u.s., the highest per capita population of millionaires, and lower than average support of non-profits. that pretty much says it all.
