News and information fall victim to electoral coup (Reporters Without Borders)
The Iranian authorities are continuing a crackdown on journalists and information that began after the announcement of the disputed presidential election results. Journalists are still being arrested and more censorship measures have been adopted as President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s allies try to suppress media coverage of fraud allegations.

“Independent sources of news and information find it very hard to make their voice heard now in Iran because of the censorship,” Reporters Without Borders said. “The authorities are tightening their grip on all news media and means of communication that could be used to dispute Ahmadinejad reelection ‘victory’. They are doing everything possible to limit coverage of the consequences of the election fraud.”

I am proud of the Iranian people. The only Axis of Evil are evil tyrants like Ahmadinejad (pronounced I'm-mad-in-a-Jihad). I was amazed and disappointed that the American people didn't march on Washington after GW Bush was anointed President by our Supreme (Court) leaders. Where is my vote indeed! I think the Iranian people see similarities between Bush and Ahmadinejad, two stupid, stubborn, ignorant, arrogant and dangerous people. Maybe there will be a new revolution in Iran before Ahmadinejad starts a nuclear war with Israel. He has fled the country in fear of his own people. Just another saber-rattling coward like Cheney and Bush.

LOL! Well said, Blue. As Yogi Berra would say, "This is Deja Vu, all over again."

Didn't the CIA stage protests to install the Shah? It happened before I was born, but well documented.

New protests over Iran elections (BBC, June 17)
Iranian presidential challenger Mir Hossein Mousavi has called for peaceful demonstrations in protest at the result of last week's contested election.

Mass rallies are expected to take place on Wednesday afternoon following raids on several university dormitories and the arrest of two pro-reform figures.
Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has sought to calm tensions and called for an end to rioting.
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was re-elected last week with almost two-thirds of votes.

Protests have grown since his re-election was confirmed on Saturday, with huge demonstrations in Tehran and clashes between protesters and security forces. Eight people have been killed.
Opposition demonstrations are expected to wind their way through central Tehran from Haft e-Tir square on Wednesday afternoon.

Theocracy does not equal democracy. Beware of Hamas, Hezbollah, Taliban and Al-Quieda just to name a few.
