If he cut the $10million/day American taxpayer$ give to I$rael, we'd be able to pay for Universal Health Care for all Americans.

I haven't seen any sign of recovery, just massive debt left to our children and grandchildren, thanks Cal

If he cut the 108 Billion America gave to the International Monetary Fund which just passed as a rider on the Military Spending bill we could pay for health care.

I would hope that confidence is slipping in Obama's actions. He has spent more money that all the 41 presidents before him spent together. He cannot find his birth certificate, so he may not even be our president, he has talked big on Illegal immigration, but has not done one thing, He supports TARP funds that only cost the taxpayer several billions of dollars to bail out banks, and the auto industry. He supports ACORN to the tune of almost a billion dollars and they are under so many governmental investigation that it is eating hundreds of thousands of dollars a month from our taxes. the Stimulus plan is a complete failure, his great plan to tell his cabinet to eliminate 100,000,000 dollars from their budgets was laughable, and amounted to what something less than one tenth of one percent from his spending spree. His vacation to Paris with his family only cost the taxpayer a million or so dollars, how about the afternoon trip to N.Y. with his kids for "hot dogs". Sure wish I had that kind of money for flittering around with, wouldn't you? He is a looser and we did not know it until he was in the White House. We need to blame the main stream media, and get them on the track of unbiased news, fair and balanced.

Bill, I'm really sick of everyone bringing up his "Birth Certificate". That's just bunk. I lost my birth certificate (it's packed away in a box somewhere) and got a new one from the city and state I was born in. And I would NEVER give up the raised seal certificate to anyone. You make a copy. DUH. It's just like the "muslim" crap, heck, I was raised Catholic but follow a pagan/wiccan belief. I don't believe in organised religion, telling me right from wrong, how to live my life by YOUR beliefs, to kneel before a man. I KNOW right from wrong. I don't judge anyone anymore. I didn't vote for Obama, nor did I vote McCain. Obama has just proven the fact that both parties are no different. He is a paid politician. Just like them all. Until we get off the two party system NOTHING will ever change. And yes, in a way that is judging, but the facts are there. Obama is no different than Bush, or any other paid politician. And the two parties are no different, neither of them are working for WE THE PEOPLE.

I didn't vote for Obama, and frankly his first few months in Office, confirm to me. why I didn't vote for him. I am scared for America with Obama as our President.

Obama inherited problems some of which have been brewing for 50 years; they might take more than a few months to solve. Differently from many of his predecessors he realizes that there are problems to fix, and is working his way towards doing so.

Many people and organisations (all over our planet) are in debt which needs to be manged correctly before things begin to improve. Once debt becomes more managable upward trends can begin again. Unfortunately unemployment is likely to get worse before it gets better.

Recent buzz notwithstanding, the latest WaPo/ABC poll shows Obama with a 65% approval rating.

Bill Reese: It is obvious you are a republican by the way you converse. A person in office for only 5 months, with the loosing party fighting tooth and nail to try to defeat anything the other side tries to come up with to fix the mess your republican screw-up from Texas did the last 8 years is one of the more stupid talking points of your party. The repugs have blamed everything they have done to this country on the dems or others, everywhere but where it should be placed, right back at the republican party. What makes you think that after 5 monthsin office everything will be repaired? Even God, if it does exist, could not fix what has been broken over the reign of terror of King George and his court in five months.

Obama has not spent the most money. Ronald Reagan left office with the biggest debt load for the American people until George W. Bush, who walked into the White House with a balanced budget and a surplus, which he manager to squandered the first year, along with tax cuts to the ultra rich and then his premeditated war in Iraq the next year-which he talked about having war with Iraq as early as July 2000-he never included the war spending in with his budgets, that is why you wrongly believe that Obama has spent more money, because he refuses to hide the war spending like George Bush did and included it in along with the other spending totals. Bush hide it all along, but it was still there. Also, the stimulus bill was a George Bush thing again and it's latest part was started last September, under Bush's watch and remember when John McCain-who was not born in this country-claimed he was suspending his campaigning to go to Washington to help work out the stimulus package-even though he did not suspend his campaigning. Certainly your recall should last longer than the few latest months you seem to remember.

As for the birth certificate thing. The way the law was written, even though Obama's mother was an American who gave birth to him in Hawaii, she was 18 years old and the law as written at that time fails to recognize the birth unless the mother is 23 years old or older. Now talk about stupid laws, especially when some states in America allow a girl to marry at a very young age, like 13 and now those babies born to those girls are considered Americans. This was a stupid law that needs to be rescinded. He was born in Hawaii, which was a legal state of the American when he was born, therefore making Obama an American. End of story

Deborah W. You wrote, “Bill Reese: It is obvious you are a republican by the way you converse.” I am a republican, but first I am an American and I care what happens to our country. I have lived through the terms of 12 presidents and none have tried so hard to tear this country down. Lets just mention a few of the items, “Immigration, buyouts of banks and auto companies, TARP, CZARS, unsupervised stimulus money, out of control health care is on the table, giving money to Iran, Hammas, Hezbolla, and Syria to name a few. Where is this non president going with all this, he won election by only a few percentage points over McCain, yet he thinks he has a mandate and is acting as if he is the messiah. Let him produce his birth certificate, and or his college records, and then I will call him Mr. President Obama. I will even send him the 20-35 dollars to have the record copied and shown in a court of law.
Mr. Obama has spent more money than all of the Presidents (43) before him put together. Did that just soak in, more than all of them accumulative and as you said it is only his first 5 month, God help us for the next 19 months.
I am not really interested in past presidents, but you mentioned Ronald Reagan, as having left office with the biggest debt load. I looked and I lived through that era, I cannot find or remember any such thing. He did inherit a recession, and he controlled it not by bigger government, but smaller government and he let business that could not make it fall to the side.
Yes, I did and do agree with the war in Iraq, and have you noticed we were not attacked during President Bush’s term of office? Look at a map and you will see Iraq is the hub of the Middle East and if it becomes free, then it will overflow into Lebanon, Syria, Iran, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. Mr. Hussein was trying to build a bomb, as our military found tons of Yellow Cake in Iraq and shipped it to Canada.
To my knowledge President Bush never hid any cost about the war, as congress is the entity that had to approve of all war budgets. I agree President Bush was not using his head when he approved of the first stimulus package, but it was pennies compared to non President Obama’s. I am not sure if President Bush had a choice as he had a Democratic congress his last term of office. In any case because he used a few million dollars there is no reason that Obama should be spending over 12 Trillion, dollars for my grandkids to have to pay back.
I remember that the Democrats asked about John McCain’s birth certificate, and he was born in Panama on a military base which is considered U.S. Soil. Now, I ask why they were son interested in vetting McCain, but not Obama? What is wrong with this picture, maybe bias?
I appreciate your writing, and interest in keeping on top of what is going on in the world of politics. I would suggest that you forget about watching or reading all the main stream media, as they are almost all owned by the same man. But look for articles on your computer, and challenge what you read on both sides. Keep up the good work and asking questions. The story is only beginning, today is the first day of the future.

When Do We All Grow Up?

Let's not stamp our feet and pout because we're not getting everything we want this instant.

Let's be honest. The problems that we face right now have been a long time in the making, and they result from choices we ourselves have made along the way. Was it not we voters (not me, of course!) who decided back in the 1970s that we did not like paying taxes, and elected Ronald Reagan to cut them for us (though even He, the Great One, remember, in fact did the opposite!) Have we not spent years protecting and insulating ourselves from the rest of the world--its disease, its poverty, its hunger and other deprivation? Have we not allowed the bigoted and the blindly religious to determine policies toward everyone the least bit different from ourselves? Have we not worshiped at the illusory altar of "strong leadership," while we ourselves do everything to subvert it? And, out in the world, have we not been at pains to promote the myth of "a strong America," as we stomp around in heavy military boots? Have we not listened without the benefit of critical judgment to those who shrieked hysterically about "socialized medicine"? Have we not bought in, endlessly, to those who would sell us snake oil, or promised us a free lunch? Have we not eagerly grabbed, ourselves, at easy profits, idolized false prophets, and celebrated empty notions of success? Have we not raised celebrity above substance, our own material comfort above that of others?

there's more ...
