L'Oréal, the French cosmetics giant, whose advertising campaigns proclaim "because you're worth it", was found guilty of racial discrimination for considering black, Arab and Asian women unworthy of selling its shampoo.

Thanks for the article. L'oreal should feel guilty for this great mistake.

It's about time. And the only thing I can think of is that other nationality womens hair is of different texture and does not work or clean those womens hair. It
s sad but true. I'm glad they was guilty of racial discrimination, they could have found another way to have these beautiful women on their advertisements...What about the make-up,skincare,lipstick,haircare, all of these suggest they are looking for the "Beautiful" people to sell their products. Sad day for Loreal.

L'Oreal has been known for years to be guilty of discrimination and not only racial. I have not bought any of their products for a very long time and never will again. I advise my friends to do the same.

Well here's a company I will never buy from again. I will also mention this to all of my friends who have not taken the step yet to become Care2 members. Frances

I agree with Barbara about the shampoos and other hair products not being suitable to asian and african hair. Here in Malaysia, all advertising for L'Oreal and other cosmetic companies, has local people advertising products specially tailored for asian hair and skin. What works for caucasians does not really work very well on asian and african hair due to the different texture. Same with make-up and other skin products. However, that does not give L'Oreal the right to discriminate against other races.

I haven't bought anything by them since the 1980's. Animal testers you know.

Right Marena the L''Oreal products are mostly not suitable for Asian or African, better said coloured skin or hair. And indeed it does not give them the right to discriminate.

I hate their advertisements, always suspected a hint of racism there, And now I find that that other Care2 members know they have been guilty of animal testing. So glad I only bought one of their products and it was a long time ago. Frances
