In Kenya a bruising and recurring drought is driving huge numbers of subsistence farmers away from rural areas, where they are increasingly reliant on hand-outs, into congested slums.

These events are so tragic and sad... I hope that they will be helped with boreholes, wells and other means of farming.. At the end of the day desalination of water form the sea will have to be an option, but this is expensive

It's not fair that the carbon-intensive lifestyles of the richer countries are causing drought (or flooding) and making people poor in other parts of the world.

People who live in or depend on rainforests that are cut down for oil, gold, cattle, palm oil and other plantations for profit, etc, also get displaced and often end up in the slums of cities.
