Personally, I don't think its right for a country like the US to just stand by and watch its citizens being left with no means to survive. When people are left with no money then the crime rate will definately go up, marriages fall apart, poverty sets in and in some cases it takes years for some people to recover if at all. Children and animals suffer through no fault of their own. And yet the US seems to have money to spend on wars and projects etc but is unable to look after it own people.

I know Americans are very patriotic and a lot of you probably will not like what I have just said, but I call it as I see it. If someone can give a logical reason why these people have to suffer through no fault of their own please do enlighten me especially in a rich country like the US.

I live in Michigan, and it's getting tougher and tougher here too. It looks like we're going to have to do some serious down-sizing in every area, including and especially government at every level. Government, which sold its soul to the corporations, is the cause of all these problems anyways. So, cutting it down to size and reducing its reach into everyone's lives, will be a big improvement over the trend toward Big Brother controlling us totally. Take their money away (taxes) and you kill their power. Well, that's happening. People losing jobs--no tax source here. Foreclosures in the millions--no taxes here either. Their greed (gov+corporations+military complex) has brought about this crash, and their demise as Big Brother. Now, that's a bright side of this mess we're in. And, won't this drive people back into becoming self-sufficient and self-reliant?
