The long awaited turnaround story at Sears may never happen. Why? Because reclusive hedge fund impresario and Sears Holding Corp. Chairman Edward Lampert doesn't know how to run a retail business, says Jeff Matthews of hedge fund RAM Partners.

Ah, memories of Sears ... in the late 1960s, my sister and I would get so excited when the Sears catalog arrived in the mail. We spent countless hours looking through it and writing up our "wish lists." A trip to the local Sears and Roebuck was always an occasion. Our dad bought all his tools there, and us kids would get popcorn. We had Kenmore appliances and my mom sewed our clothes on a Sears sewing machine. I am kinda sad to see Sears go under ...

I have always gone to Sears and thought it would be there forever. Recently, I noticed that is was not the same but I thought it was only a sign of the weak economy. I hope it survives so that as in the past I can continue going to Sears.

They will let Sears go down the drain. Too bad. Why not save Sears, a place I doubt a peson living here in the states hasn't bought something from. General motors, on the other hand deserved to go down since they actually had bad management. Sears, on the other hand had okay management, but other stuff got in the way. I suggest Obama save Sears like he did GM. How many out there give a dam about Wall Street? A bunch of greedy grabbers. Sears has been there for us for years, I'd like to see it saved. Of course Wal Mart, the store who has made China rich, has a lot to do with many business going down. It really makes me sick.

My in-laws bought their home from Sears! It arrived on three flatbed trucks and included everything but the paint. With help from friends they built it - reconstructed it really - and it only took a couple weeks apparently. How the mighty have fallen :-(

With Wall St. continuing to reign terror across America, they would kick Sears, an American icon, to the curb in a heartbeat.

This is so sad. I love sears! They have great lawn mowers and really reliable service that is very reasonably priced. Believe me this is one topic I know LOL 10 mowers later give or take a few. No Not Sears they can't go out of buisiness!!!:(
Thanks Cal

My grandfather used to work at a Sears we used to have downtown. I have many memories of that Sears, plus others I've been in & bought from. How sad!!

they can't compete with the bigbox cheapo stores, but they have some really good stuff there.
