The tripling of world wheat, rice, and corn prices between mid-2006 and mid-2008 signaled our growing vulnerability to food shortages. It took the worst economic meltdown since the Great Depression to lower grain prices.Rising temperatures bring crop-shri

Of course food shortages will bring down civilization. We have too many people over using too few resources. Grain crops are threatened. Fruit and some vegetables are more threatened. Any agriculture depending on insect pollination is at risk because the pollinators are rapidly being depleted by GMO's and pesticides. There is too much of mankind and too many men who feel godlike enough to play with genetic materials.

I have to agree Betsy....& they have the barefaced audacity to say they are doing it for the benefit of humanity whilst making HUGE profits for themselves & those @ the top end of the food chain & other industries who buy up all available land& exploit it for financial gain!.....leaving those who actually produce the food struggling to survive on a pittance!......If the larger & supposedly richer countries gave genuine support to local sppliers 1st.....it would cut down on transportation & the expense of the middle man industialists....Helping to cut the global footprint......& the money saved could be used for natural disasters as & when they occurred.....& those less fortunate who live in vulnerable areas!

The actual real food shortage is bringing down civilization for some, Is the "food" your eating real, do you even know? Is it food stuff? ARE you getting the nutrition you need to be an aware, awake and participating member of your Community? city?, country? universe? These are important questions it would be wise for all to answer, HONESTLY. AM I aware of my spiritual Nature? IS IT A very spiritual time? Important indeed these questions are , to make sense of what is occuring globally......

WE ARE spiritual beings having a human experience......:):):)
YOU ARE a Powerful Creator.....

Food shortages have to potential to bring in wars... tensions and threats in certain areas of the world..s a whole I think a lot of the first world countries consume way to much food... these nations should perhaps learn to economise, then in that way they would not feel totally vunerable in a crisis

Although this article is about food shortages I think that the point is being missed that clean WATER is the issue. No water no food but, more importantly, what do we drink?
