Transporting energy requires energy ~ Local PV systems are a much more efficient way to repower.
The battery back up system at my home kicks in during power outages and we produce more electricity than we use during the day. That additional electricity is then send into the grid.
We also have a solar domestic hot water system on our home. It has paid itself off many times over. The farm house is also a passive solar design and the back up central heating system is only needed from the end of December to the beginning of March.
