It's a Muslim country. What else can we expect? They don't worry about details like the DEMOCRATIC process. It certainly is a " masquerade"

I disagree, Stan, Islam is not the reason for a government to try and ignore the democratic process, look how much damage the Bush administration did to our Constitutional protections with the Patriot Act right here in the US,

There's no comparison Bee Hive. If Bush did such a good job in destroying your democratic process, how come the Democrats won the election?
It makes no sense to compare the U.S. with these totally autocratic regimes in the Middle East and North Africa.
You should thank God everyday for the freedom you enjoy.

If its not to be a democractically free election, then why call it a democracy. Call it what it is a dictatorship, no matter if the current regime is pro western or not.

Question for ya out there...If Ben Ali's regime is more pro western and does not sponsor worldwide terrorism, but simply placates state sponsored terrorism against his nation's people...should we back him? Is terrorism terrorism whether local or international, or is there a perceived difference...

Muzzle the ox while it treads the hay... they always want to stop press freedom, as this hinders their chances of what they call a free and fair election
