It seems the financial crisis isn't all doom and gloom: one in four people are glad the world's economy slumped like it did, because it helped them realize their priorities in life, according to a global survey.

Thank you Cal, interesting. A shame that pain has to be the catalyst to change for some (like me) but reassuring that it is engaged none the less. So difficult to find positive news, I thank you for your seemingly tireless efforts.

Well, we're reducing carbon emissions because fuel is too expensive.

Hmmm...does money buy happiness...not, twice.

Frist: A Texan couple divorced very publicly. After a long ordeal,on the day the divorce was finalized, the ex said she would never see her ex-husband as long as she lived. That very day, the husband was one of several winners to hit the jackpot in a lottery. the next day, the ex was back in court demanding half the winnings.

Second, Lauren Tewes's very public firing after her five-year million dollar a year performance from the television series "The Love Boat" for cocaine addiction. I imagine every morning Tewes looks in the mirror and asks how many people did she hurt.

In both cases, money brought misery.

Does many buy happiness?

You know I feel the same way. This downturn has help pull the covers off of rampant greed within the private business sector revealing gross misconduct. Stealing dalily from those who can least afford it. For decades the auto industry has overcharged citizens for sub-quality products turning a deaf ear to what the American citizens want and then bellyaching when we buy from overseas competitors. They still have not changed their commercials blindsiding the consumer with the newest in bells and whistles and not one offers an auto lasting more than four years with better gas mileage. Airlines claim that they've reduced prices by not charging for our luggage. Hello...that charge was added during the gas fiasco and now that it's over the luggage charged should have been removed. Cell phones, PDA's, iPods everybody's got to have one, individuality has been left behind. With our new technology we've become a nation of lazy, greedy slugs who feel entitled. This downturn has given the nation a wake up call, pull your heads out of your collective asses and smell the coffee. Hopefully, we will learn from this experience not to take all for granted and to care about our fellow man. Stop greed in it's tracks, find our lost morals and become the truly blessed humans that we're meant to be. We are destroying our environment, our children and no one cares. We are all looking for the next best shiny object to entice our tiny attention spans and offer nothing in return except empty souls and pockets.

Something bad always brings aboutsomething good... this is a good time to acknowledge that one has to save.. be more frugal and realise that we do not need evrything our eyes see... and that we do not have to visit the shooping malls everyday
