At a Florida solar farm, the president urges lawmakers to pass a measure that limits carbon emissions. Critics call his visit a public relations exercise.

If the President didn't go on speaking tours such as this one to talk about major issues, he'd be criticized for not pushing his agendas. The criticism happens no matter what.
This debate about changing over to renewable energy sources, improving infrastructure such as power grids and creating jobs through changes and improvements has been taking place for decades. The time has finally come where Congress has to make crucial decisions. This is just one of several places where the $$$Billions$$ spent on war could be spent more wisely. And, if the Republican politicians quoted in the article truly believe that "most Americans" are against this, then I say those politicians are as out of touch with reality as my daughter's best canine friend, BobbaLou.

The solar panels are south of us, we live near Tampa.

At the time being, solar electricity is too expensive. Massive spending is needed to bring the cost down.

What the admnistration should have been pushing is solar heat, which is not only affordable, it pays for itself in just five years. We should have had this a long time ago.

I have examined solar, and the first step could be an electric bicycle. Electric bikes use 300 to 350 watts, and solar panels would be affordable to many people. This would allow travel over great distances. (You would need a trailer to support the solar panels.)

Nancy, I agree. I am a conservative, and in 2006 I left to run in another conservatie party. (I oppose the war in Iraq.) If Obama was not supporting green energy he would be criticized.

Unfortunately for the Democrts, in 2004 the party made the mistake of running a senator who voted for the war. I know if the party had been smart and run a governor, there would be no record of voting for the war and the results could have been very different. I still do not understand how people can support John F. Kerry when he voted what Bush wanted.

Until people admit that eating meat is the major cause of climate change they are just paying politics and don't care enough to make a personal sacrifice for the planet.
