A Vermont dairy farm is producing something other than milk. Earlier this month, state officials were on hand to visit Vermont's newest methane facility. Westminster Farms Inc., along with Green Mountain Power (GMP), have been working together in an on-si

Wonderful. Since farm live stock have been blamed for so much of the green houses gases. Good article, Cal.

If livestock is here to stay and are naturally going to do their business (poopy), why not convert a waste and greenhouse gas into a positive outcome. There are an awful lot of septic tanks that could be tapped as well instead of releasing the methane into the air.

Great news! The poorest people of underdeveloped countries have been recycling cows' detritus for ages...

Thats a great idea we could also generate the same type of energy from landfills and any other type of organic waste.

AT LAST!!!!! It is finally catching on: a huge part of the solution for more than one problem is to capture the gases polluting our atmosphere and turn it into clean!!!! electricity. I have been pushing this as long as I have been with Care2. It is something that I became aware of in 1970 when two engineer friends researched and produced a methane generator for a (very)small farm. It worked for them! They were off the grid, energy self-sufficient. It seemed like the perfect solution to ME.... but the government thought otherwise and buried the results. 40 years...how many more before enough of us wake up and choose the simplest, most elegant (and smellless versus stinky) solutions to energy and pollution problems??
