No matter what side of the fence ya stand on in regards to being in Afghanistan, it is supposed to be an international effort. Representing the international community, with the UN running and not standing firm, kind of reminds me of the chickens that flew the coop when a fox came around.

With that said though, they do require sufficient security, for their unarmed personnel to conduct their duties.

This will only benefit the Taliban's cause and apologies folks, especially to those who don't believe we should be there, I personally don't like war as a dictum to dictate an outcome, but I emphatically don't want to see the Taliban running any country again with their mindset of Sharia law and their hostilities towards women. You might as well say to each and every Afghan female now that, "Sorry, but we tried, now we got to go and leave you to fend for yourselves and good luck with that...

I don't know, but the image of the Taliban summarily executing a pleading woman accused of adultry on a soccer field with a fully loaded stadium of male onlookers cheering it on, left a big, big impact on me anyway...

My husband is working for a Japanese government agency. It is like USAID and runs some projects in Afghanistan. There are some Japanese staff there whom we know quite well. Of course I'm worried. And I'm really sorry for people of Afghan, especially women and children.

Thanks Naoko. Women and children suffer in Iraq too. Civilians are always victims in any war.

People need to be taken out of harms way, especially if the situation is becoming desparate... other plans will have to be put in place
