On November 2, Hamid Karzai began another term as president of Western-occupied Afghanistan after being officially declared the winner in an election so blatantly fraudulent that his main opponent, Abdullah Abdullah, refused to take part in it any longer.

There is no need for our soldiers to be in Afanganistan as we could use the soldieers on our borderlines w/the Homeland Security to protect us against terrorists so we can have peace. We have to be careful of the terrorists in our country, which is happening. We must have security & Peace.

TY, Cal, for your insightful article on the Afghanistan conundrum. The latest invasion of Afghanistan was launched back in October of 2001 on a fantasy. None of these politicians - from ex-President G. W. Bush to the newest members of Congress (save a few brave, enlightened ones) have never learned the history of this rugged, mountainous region, not even the Soviet debacle there over two decades ago.

The fact is, Afghanistan was never conquered by any foreign army - from Alexander the Great all the way to the present. Afghanistan was always a region of several competing tribes - each headed by a warlord; thus, it was never a nation. Afghanistan was so wild and rugged that not even Ghengis Khan and his Mongol horders would enter; they just simply bypassed it on their march westward.

This latest Afghanistan adventure - by the US and NATO - will only end with the same result that previous invaders faced. The British failed twice to subdue this hostile population; the Russians also failed. No foreign force can fight a people determined to remain independent, and living in hostile terrain, and win. The current war that's unraveling there only strenghens the case for withdrawal.

We are there to put in a pipe line for Exon, can't go through the Russian side cause they are wise to us.
Sad waist of life so a few at the top can profit billions.

You didn't really think we are there to spread Democracy do you
or hunt for a tall guy in a cave. What a con story being fed to us.

The cause in Afghanistan is very blurry. Why are we there to bolster a corrupt government? If it is to fight terrorism, there has to be a better way. Why send our young men and women there to be killed or maimed? Why, exactly are we not minding our own business which means using military forces only to defend our country or to revenge any attacks on us. We cannot use 9/11 forever and those attackers were from Saudi Arabia, not from Iraq or Afghanistan.

I'm against this war, and I was against the Iraq war.

I really hope NO MORE TROOPS are sent in to Afghanistan, and that those already there are brought home.

IF the majority of Americans are for war, then there ought to be a DRAFT so that EVERYONE is called to serve.

Period!

What...do...we...want! TROOP WITHDRAWAL. When...do...we...want...it! NOW.

This is Bush's war, and Bush is gone.

What are we going to accomplish there now?

Opium at market prices?

Pipelines for the Big Bankers and Fed Lords?

Continuation of the phoney War on Terror, to keep the CIA funded Taliban and Al CIAda active so we
can maintain the National Security state?

No more casualties for the New World Order!

No more war for the Industrial- Media-Banking Complex!
