I'm not feeling that Ken is sympathizing too greatly with most of our wild animals, and the same goes for the sierra club. One of thier main interests is hunting the wild animals.

Ken Salazar is speaking out of two sides of his face. He tries to do things to make himself look good, but then admitted the Sage Grouse is endangered but refused to list it as endangered. Chris, I'm not sure where you're getting your information about the Sierra Club, but I do not think it is accurate. Can you quote sources?
Thanks Cal.

Salazar needs to step down before he gives Sierra club a bad name...he is responsible for NOT stopping a lot of the horse and burro round ups, and cruel treatment that these poor animals suffer.

Salazar is also responsible for the killing of so many wolves by removing them from the endangered species list. I would rather see him out of office than anything else. Chris V. perhaps you mean the Safari Club and not the Sierra Club. Thanks Cal.

Yes, Chris, as a 40-year member of the Sierra Club and a former State Chapter Chairman, I can tell you that it is not true that "one of their main interests is hunting the wild animals" -- absolutely not the case.

However the Club does have a hunter-angler outreach program for support where mutual conservation interests take precedence over basic differences of the majority in each community.

I, myself, a rabid anti-hunter, belong to Ducks Unlimited because much of their resource base is devoted to habitat conservation. Most of them want to shoot ducks; I want to look at them. If agribusiness and pollution destroys the habitat, neither the hunters nor I will have any ducks to argue about.

Karenbee may have it right -- the big-game trophy killers of the Safri Club are the sworn enemies of the Sierra Club and most rational hunters.

I agree with Terry. Sometimes you support a group you disagree with just to help conserve the habitat. Without it everyone including the animals loses. We are one step away from the repubs or lobbyist members of the government selling off all the land to development. This almost happened in Texas to Big Bend. A buddy was going to buy it for chump change.

Glad you cleared that up about the Sierra club I was very sad to think of them as big game killers or even little duck killers, sadly I get that some folks see killing as a sport.. but in truth sport means something else not just killing something that does not even know you are there.. that is not a sport.. and even if it knows you are there and it has no weapon and you have a gun.. still just killing..not sport.

I agree we have to be good stewards of our public lands, which are for everyone. So glad we now have a President who agrees. The last administration was only interested in big corporations taking over these lands.
