Wow. I can't begin to imagine what it was like for Oric and all the others on those killing fields. Wherever we are on this earth, you can be sure there are those dying, and some surviving, so many forms of atrocities, cruelty, abuse and so much more. We must stand for ALL who suffer and be adamant in our commitment to bring those responsible to justice.

I read the Newsweek article about Mladic this evening. The first time I boarded a plane was to vacation in Yugoslavia when I was 24 in 1988. Mostar was so beautiful. There seemed to be a grim tension in the demeanor of many people in all the towns I visited. There were young people dancing in nightclubs and riding their motorbikes (which were often thrown into the back of police vehicles and impounded - illegally parked?) who were friendly and carefree, and "laid-back" artists and musicians, but there was tension in the air among their parents.

So Mladic is ill and is too sick for this trial...at least he got to be old enough to get sick..what about the people he slaughtered? They didn't get the chance to get old and sick...they didn't get a chance to live. Period. I'm tired about the whining of these dictators or ex-SS or guards that brutalized people during the Killing Fields or Rwanda or the Holocaust...they get caught and beg for mercy because they are old and sick. Please shut up and take what you deserve for your crimes...MAN UP and take your punishment.

Thank you for posting this, and for Anne and Carol's comments. Heartfelt. Anything I could say would be trite.

Just like any other race, you have your good muslim's and you have your bad. I hope they get their justice and change their laws. Freedom has a price but shouldn't be done with hate.
