I understand kids need toys, but choices can be made as far as the toys and packaging goes. Lets just take them outside and show them the wildlife, let them play with that (without doing undue harm) and hopefully learn in the process.

I have posted this also on LinkedIn in three groups devoted to Corporate Purchasing and Procurement. It's important to post this in other places--Care2 Groups, FB and Twitter, etc.

Seems clear to me. Use recycled paper to produce the packaging for the plastic CRAP needed to amuse unimaginative children.
Sorry, but I am always shocked at the volume of JUNK every child owns.

There is a Greenpeace petition you can sign, objecting to this! There ia also a much smaller target petition re the same issue on

The Greenpeace petition has a target of 50 000 signatures, and as of now, they have 12302 signatiures.
Here is the link to it:

Eileen Novak - I could not agree with you more! At the risk of sounding like an old fogey, when I was a child, we did not own REMOTELY as many toys, games etc. I loved jigsaw puzzles, but I didn't have many. I also loved soft toys (especially toy dags) but my total collection of soft toys only amounted to nine or ten. When I was 10 years old, I bought a large teddy bear myself, which I had saved up for a long time to buy, doing jobs and saving my pocket money.

Anna I tried to sign that petition but couldn't as I did not have a ZIP code only a Postcode! Shame

Margaret K. - Just make up your own zip code! I live in England, and I am constantly signing US only petitions. This is the pattern:
273, Chestnut Drive
San Fransisco
CA (click on this as it's the abbreviation for California)
32145-6587 (many zip codes have five digits, a hyphen, then four more digits)

It DISGUSTS me that our governments allow corporations to use wood from tropical rain forests for paper products! What STUPID A- holes! We have plenty of renewable forest areas here in Canada to provide pulp for paper. GREED GREED GREED! It will be our doom, but not before we lose countless amazing species!

Isn't there some kind of decent packaging out there? Yes, children have too many toys. I had two dolls when I was young ....that's it. My children had very few toys. Now children have so many toys they can't fit them all in their room. Disgraceful! No wonder they grow up to shop till they drop.

If we all planted a tree somewhere/anywhere and once a month or so.. we can easily offset the destruction above..
Nations greedily intent with selfdestruction are not easily stopped and will devour natural beauty until the very end.. anyway good post..
