The article states: "Despite decades of efforts to restore and protect the Great Lakes, dozens of old power plants still are allowed to kill hundreds of millions of fish each year by sucking in massive amounts of water to cool their equipment."

Hasn't big business gotten rich enough at the expense of the Great Lakes? It's time they started to repair the damage they've done --and not at the expense of consumers and taxpayers! Consumers pay through the nose for their utilities, and taxpayers shouldn't be expected to foot the bill to clean up the mess these power plants have created or to replace the fish that they have killed. Taxpayers and consumers have been complacent for too long! Power Plants don't own the Great Lakes, yet they take no responsibility for polluting them and killing the fish they harbor. It's time they did!

Noted! What will they do when all the fish are dead? Can't they do away with obsolete power plants? I have a hard time understanding just what the Environmental Protection Agency does! They would better serve the people by helping to create alternative energy and overseeing enviornmental issues.
