First Chiquita funds terrorism and pays a $25millon fine and has to help the justice dept., and now Dole. Id expect alot of strong armed, heavy handed, nasty s##t going on here also...did you noticed the cedit for the photo was "anonymous"? There had to be a reason, like scared maybe?
And in the end its always the people, environment and animals that pay the heaviest price.
Please boycott all products involved with these companies, and more where possible, like signing every
rightous petition you see! Thanks Cal

This wouldn't happen if the government wouldn't give the green light for the deforestation. If it's not for bananas, then it's for paper or for cattle, palm or wood. For whatever reason very soon forests will be just a memory.

Exactly how rich does one have to be before one can around the law like this?
Is it done with bribes or just with disregard for the natives?
However it is done, this is criminal and there should be a way to prosecute this.

fortunately, I am not a big banana fan, but my son loves them....however, I am sure he will stop eating so many once he sees the cute pictures and reads the story.....if you do know the answer to Dotti's question about what brand we can eat (if any) let us know.....also....what about bananas labelled "organic"???? any safer for our world????

Chiquita was behind the Guatemalan Civil War, except for they were called the United Fruit Company back then. Dole, they've been destroying rainforest for years.

Does any American company know how to do business without destroying the environment, using child labor, human trafficking, stealing resources from local peoples, etc.???

I would be neat if all banana plantations could be organic, fair trade, rainforest alliance certified, and even shade grown like coffee. A kind of tropical forest garden could be created with bananas, coffee, palm fruit, mangoes, papaya, papas, sapotes, durian, jackfruit and every other tropical fruit, berry seed and nut. Imagine!
