Potential water shortages are one more reason to try to reduce carbon emissions and blunt the worst impacts of climate change -- a warmer world is likely to further dry out already arid regions

...and yet some don't want to discuss population growth, climate change, slowing down our environmental destruction, etc....THERE IS NO PLANET B FOR LIFE, WE MUST SAVE THE ONE WE HAVE...or adapt or evolve....I vote for evolving into a society not depending on pollution for energy sources....

Thank you for sharing this. Water IS invaluable, considering that everything will perish without it, despite which so much water is wasted or polluted, which should stop. Following J.M.A.'s post, I would like to add: This is one of the BIGGEST issues of our time, and should be treated with all seriousness as such.

We need to save the clean water we do have for our future. If we have more desalination plants, we can purify the water to us to use.

I can't be all doom and gloom about this. I just don't understand how, if the ice caps are melting we could still be running out of clean water. And how, with all the new desalination technology and the water cleansing facilities, can we not make water clean and available for the world?
