It stands to reason, Syria, and the rest of the world would be using American technology.I'm just waiting for an article talking about America being the cause of Syria's communication suppression.

Blue Coat - the name suggests Police. No doubt developed to spy on Americans.

It is worse than just being able to use our technology. American companies are developing tech applications specifically to help totalitarian regimes spy on and track their own people.

Does it surprise anyone that the #1 exporter of harmful, lethal, and invasive technologies has done so again?

A country that brags so of freedom, with the most prisons full to capacity who would be surprised that the backlash of such population control would find it's way to other countries. Before you call yourself the land of the free take another look.

The real problem is that in several countries in the world there are companies who develop Orwell's "Big Brother" like technology.
I wish noone had EVER thought of developing them.

There's something to be said about the fact that nobody is shocked by this revelation. The American government and American corporations both must realize who they are selling these dangerous technologies to and understand that buyers do not always use these things for the purposes that they say they are going to.
