Carrier bags should be made from a more environmentally friendly material.

I've been carrying two strong carrier bags in my shoulder bag for 20 years now, so when they're full it's much as I can carry. If we could just persuade everyone to do this then we'd save literally billions of carrier bags.

Still have cloth bags from the 1980s....still have to educate too many people about the badness of plastic bags.....hope we can get better with time....

I'm seeing too many stores using paper bags, and I wince every time I see one....because it means another tree is gone forever.
They should be making plastic bags with gelatin or something totally degradable so it will dissolve when it rains.
They can send a man to the moon, but can't invent a better plastic bag!

For now it seems better to use plastic if you want to save trees!

Plastic bags should be banned everywhere, I don't know what they are waiting for. I always use canvas totes where ever I shop. Thanks for the video Cal.

I agree with you Marilyn, but can you imagine people standing at the bus stop in the rain with dissolvable grocery bags. Trust me that would be a big problem. I believe in reusable non plastic type of bags.

The plastic bag industries won't stop. The alternatives exist, but the industry will fight to keep it. This is why I think the petroleum industry continues it's lobbying efforts and has congressmen in the hind pockets. It's truly like this with so many industries and so hard to fight.

Noted and shared, thanks, Cal. We seem to be banning them one city at a time. I've been using cloth bags for years...I mean really, we did without them for thousands of years!

They are pushing to ban them here in CA. I've bought material reuseable bags to go shopping with. I hope they come to there senses. Thanks Cal

Plastic bags are dangerous, but humans are MUCH more dangerous because we are such a self-centered species.

I agree that plastic bags are a big problem. The least people can do is to recycle plastic and not throw it away as litter -- how else would it appear in the ocean? The use of plastic can easily be reduced by using a cloth shopping bag, which I do, etc., but how to avoid all the plastic packaging? Most packaged products come in plastic, which means a lot of garbage, and that should change.

Plastic bags also create CO2 emissions in their manufacture. I'd be good if they were banned worldwide and alternatives found.

To re-use the same ones over and over seems to be the way to go. We have a scheme (UK)
whereby the store sells you a good strong plastic bag, for a minimal sum, say 10p, and when it wears out they replace it, it takes a long time to wear out. Bag For Life is the name of the scheme.

The amount of plastic in our environment is disgusting. The masses of it in the ocean is appalling. Too many people don't seem to care.

I wish we knew about plastic bag issues years ago, at least we are learning to recycle. I have started using cloth bags, we have them in both vehicles.

Our local Health Food store, Down to Earth, used biodegradable bags. They are available. We need to pressure everyone to use them too.

I can't, and don't need, to watch it. Plastic needs to be made illegal! We don't have the right to destroy the planet for the sake of convenience! It is simply NOT that difficult to "Bring your own!"

Is not plastic made with gasoline???? C'mon let's stop using them! Wish the biodegradable doggie bags were cheaper. They would be if we all bought them...
