The big-box retailer outrages its employees by telling them to show up on Thanksgiving night so stores can open the second Black Friday begins

Not as bad as some retailers that are demanding their employees work Thanksgiving Day, an early black friday ..it's on Thursday..
But Target wouldn't allow employess to rearange schedules to keep everyone even a little happy..i've got one a few blocks away, and swear to not go near it, as easy, breezy and unmobbed as it is!

I have worked on Thanksgiving too, but I did so by choice before my son. I have never shopped on Black Friday and I do not want to deal with the crowds and I never plan to shop on one. I think people that do should be ashamed! People should not be forced to work on a holiday!

Sorry, we have few holidays and fewer family days. No one should have to work on any holiday.
We are looked on as being driven and strange in Europe, with our short schedules and no time.
Frankly, if you've got to go out to mindlessly shop so soon after a meal, then go on the internet.
If you fall for this being some great sale, you deserve to pay the inflated prices for junk quality
cheaply made foreign origin products. This benefits the corporate greed machine not you.

iI KNOW A TARGET EMPLOYEE, THE ATTITUDE THERE IS MISERABLE.
TRYING TO DO EVERYTHING,DOES NOTHING WELL.
IF THIS MEAN,NASTY BEHEMOTH IS GETTING PROMOTIONS, THERE MUST BE SOMETHING WRONG WITH THESE STORES. REMEMBER WHEN WE WERE BOYCOTTING THEM FOR EMPLOYING MANUFACTURERS WHO RAPE THEIR EMPLOYEES?
NEVER BEEN IN ONE, DON'T PLAN TO EVER BE IN ONE.ALL THEY SELL IS LOW CLASS JUNK.

I have been boycotting big box stores since 199, nor have I ever shopped on Buy Nothing Day--not even for groceries.

If you have not signed this petition on Change.org, please do so ASAP. Even my local corporate whipping boys...I mean "news," spared a few minutes for this petition last night.

Jessica C: Looks like there are over 100,000 signatures on this petition (I signed yesterday) and if we can keep it going the goal of 150,00 WILL be reached!

I never shop the day after Thanksgiving, and usually make a point not to "buy" into all the propaganda about gifts "for the season"... Our family has an annual tradition that one gift is HANDMADE for each person on our list and that slows down the wallet bleeding... :) It also shows how much we care for each other, not the price of the gift...

If Target make their employees go in on thanksgiving night, I will not set foot in their store until they back down. I don't go out on the day after Thanksgiving anyway. Too much traffic.

It's not just Target. A lot of other stores are going crazy over this also. Heck, Toys R Us is starting its "Black Friday" at 9 PM Thursday.

Money, money, money, that's the only thing the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays mean to the the business community!

There was a time when holidays were really holidays and stores closed and people stayed home or did something special. Now everything is open except for on Christmas. More and more holidays are for sales though and for all the hype about family and all that rot people have to work and stores are open most of the time. It's ridiculous. If you can't get your shopping done then wait. I know it is more about the American way though and stores being able to make as much money as they can. WEll, That's what I don't buy. Stores should be closed at times. It is way over the top. One store does something like this and they all start. Where does it stop?

With business being one of my majors, I am well versed on how the marketing and advertising companies Pied Pipers play their pipes and the little mice follow, like if they are being offered the bargains of the century, yea right!
