Experts agree that Sri Lanka's free pre and postnatal clinics across the island nation have helped bring infant mortality down to 15 per 1,000 live births and the under-five mortality rate to 21 per 1,000 live births.

I'm pleased to see that Sri Lanka's infant mortality rate has gone down due to the introduction of free pre- and postnatal clinics, but it's so sad that many of the infants who wouldn't otherwise have survived childbirth end up being the victims of malnutrition. Education programs regarding proper nutrition for children of varying ages need to be initiated within the estate sector.

noted and thank you Cal. How can any country allow their own to go without?
People need to help each other worldwide. Those in power need to work together to make sure no child goes without food and water. Blessings to all who for what they go through.

It's a moral crime that so many are hungry and malnurished in this world. We have the ability to feed everyone if some (1%) weren't so damn greedy. More food is wasted daily than what is needed for those without. It makes my heart sick.

This should not be happening in this day and age. People waste TOO much food, we all take it for granted. We should all be ashamed of our selves. Something NEEDS to be done about this, NOW.
