When members of the administration begin to bail, this is a good thing. On the other hand, this usually makes the dictator even more unsure of himself, and his standing. Because of this , the military becomes more aggressive.

What he's done takes a lot of courage. There's every probability that the Syrian regime will try to exact revenge on members of his family. That's how they operate under Bashar.

Abdo Hussameddin is probably a mole or traitor running for cover, now that the attempt to destabilize and destroy Syria has been thwarted.

The foreign-backed rebels have fled from Homs, their last stronghold, leaving behind numerous documents implicating Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Israel, France and the U.S. in a covert operation to sow strife in Syria and ultimately overthrow the government. See:

> Israa Al-Fass, "Mossad, CIA and Blackwater Operate in Syria - Report", *Al Manar*, 07 Mar 2012

The defeat of the rebels and their terrorist pals means that the bloodshed in Syria should now end. If the "Human Rights Champions" were truly concerned about saving lives, they would be cheering. Instead, they are mourning and fuming. Their resentment tells us that they have been using the human rights issue as a pretext for promoting war.

Why not make your own little research, everyone believe in the lies of the media?
I have provided some links and you easily can find out if you're fallen for a lie to discredit Bashar Al Assad........

Syrian deputy oil minister defector is a fake
The whole media was completed today with the news that a senior member of the Syrian government would have resigned and gone over to the terrorists.
Syria's deputy oil minister had broken with al-Assad. The source called a YouTube video in which a man can be seen in a suit with tie and toupee, that reads off a sheet and announces, ‘I, the engineer Abdo Hussameddin, deputy oil minister, announcing herewith my departure from the regime and my resignation to’. He now concludes the ‘popular revolution’ to ‘that rejects the injustice and brutal campaign of the regime.’

Furthermore, the person says in the video, he had 33 years working for the Syrian government. But he now wanted not end in the service of a ‘criminal regime’. He was well aware that his decision would have consequences. ‘This regime will burn down my house, pursue my family and spread lies,’ he said.

Someone named Rami, who shot the video and claims to have upload, said to the AFP news agency in Beirut, the ‘opposition’ have helped to organize Hussameddins crossing. Where this was, and where the video was shot, he did not say for security reasons.

Again typical of the alleged professional journalists is the fact they have assumed the message simple 1 to 1 of the news agency, without checking whether what is truth to it. It will give the impression that Assad's government is falling apart and there is a hero as a turncoat because he now has to fear that he and his family are persecuted snif!

A quick search shows, however, I can not agree with.
If you look at the structure of the Syrian government, then there IS no separate oil ministry.
Thus, there is no deputy oil minister.
There is only one Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources.
His name is Sufian Allaw.

(a .pdf) If, one seeks for the name of Abdo Hussameddin, one will find very little about him.
One entry reads, he would be on the board of Al Furat Petroleum Company, a joint venture of Shell Oil in the Middle East.

Al Furat Petroleum Company,
P O Box 7660, Damascus, SYRIA
Tel: 963 11 618 3333 Fax: 963 11 618 4444
Chairman: Abdo Husameddin

Then in 2009, Hussameddin would be CEO of an oil refinery.
In the original text on the page of "Oil & Gas News" is - ‘click’:

12/03/2009: ‘Other nomination by Ottri for what Abdu Husameddin consultant who named as general manager of oil refinery company.’

In other words, Husameddin is described as consultant who was appointed by Syrian Prime Minister Mohammad Naji Ottri to the manager of a refinery.

04/01/2009:.. ‘The meeting was attended by Dr. Zainab Hussain assistant minister of oil and Eng Ali Abbas general manager of public establishment and Petroleum Eng Abdo Husameddin general manager of refinery and oil derivatives and Omer al-Hamad general manager of SPC.’

Here Husameddin as an engineer and manager of a refinery is described.
Only in 2010 his name appears in connection with the government as one of several assistants to the Minister at a signing ceremony.

‘10/06/2010:’ Signing Ceremony attended by Dr. Hasan Zeinab what Abdo Husameddin minister and assistants, Jamal Addairy Geology establishment General Manager, and his deputy and the Indian delegation Azughbi nobility and The Indian Ambassador to Damascus. "

So it looks like this ‘defector’ is recently working as assistant to the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, before he was employed in the private sector and then also for ‘Shell’. Just what is already an assistant of many?
He was nothing than a better Secretary and certainly not a senior member of the Assad government.
He also has not worked for 33 years, in the government, as he claims.

This the media turned and the so-called rebels have exaggerate something on the video. If anything, he is a small sausage, who was once head of a refinery, which means an opportunist now, after a takeover of Syria by the fascists group with the help of NATO, he gets a great post, either in the new puppet government or Shell. Moreover, it is clear why this is about someone from the oil industry, because the motive why the West is engaged in Syria is - as usual JUST oil.

There only must appear an Internet video and the media to announce it is nothing but the truth. Especially what Syria is concerned, any claim of the real terrorists, no matter how staged and fake it is, completely noncritical distributed.
But we know now, there is no more investigative journalism, or even a proper public relations, but only copy and paste artists (so called ‘journalists for sale’ who spread disinformation and propaganda, whatever NATO operates a philanthropic policy and whom we should believe to be the villain again.

‘Truth exists, only falsehood has to be invented.’

John G. writes:

> How can anyone with half a brain support Assad?

Hello John. Please take a look at the pictures here:

FAQ: How is Libya faring these days?

E.g., look at the picture captioned "Sirte is a wasteland". The casualty figures for this innocuous NATO "Intervention" are now up to 30,000. THIS is what you and other supporters of "Revolution!" want to inflict on Syria. But the results of your "Humanitarian" war-making in Syria will be far worse, because Syria would be plunged into sectarian strife and civil war. If you do not understand what that means, read about the civil war in Lebanon.

Assad DIDN'T DO THIS. Assad didn't ask foreign powers to foment insurrection. But Assad IS trying to prevent Syria from turning into the sort of "Catastrophic Success" that the war-lovers have achieved in Iraq.

Anyone with half a brain needs to care about the CONSEQUENCES of insurrection. Think it THROUGH! What will happen to Syrian Christians, if Islamists take over? What will happen to Syrian women, who now enjoy a European life-style? What will happen to the Alewites and the other Islamic minorities? With your naive good intentions, you are paving a wide road straight to hell. Again, look at the pictures of what NATO has done to Libya to get a glimpse of that hell.

Brilliant, Calle! You have done what all of our highly-paid reporters in all of our Zionized media have failed to do:

You have asked whether there really IS a separate oil ministry with a "Deputy Oil Minister".

And you have discovered that no such "Deputy Oil Minister" exists.

So we have been lied to yet again, by people who are absolutely addicted to war and will stop at nothing to turn Syria into another vast killing field like Iraq.

Why are we so eager to believe this disinformation? Why are we so reluctant to question it?

Because we too have become True Believers in the Cult of War. We are PRIMED for war-making, so we eagerly gulp down every lie the pro-war media feed us. We put our faith in "Humanitarian Intervention" -- death and destruction with a sugarcoat for liberals.

If we would take the time to look at the RESULTS, we would see that our Glorious Humanitarian Interventions simply multiply the killing ten-fold or a hundred-fold.

I see that you actually ask TWO obvious questions, Calle:

* Does a "Deputy Oil Minister" even EXIST?

* Do most Syrians WANT this foreign-backed insurrection?

I have yet to hear any of the Big Humanitarians asking the second question. They want to Intervene in Syria, they want to shower the country with their Humanitarian Bombs and Humanitarian Missiles, but they have not even bothered to ask what the Syrian PEOPLE want! What insane arrogance!

I followed your link and found that most Syrians do NOT want their beautiful country turned into another Iraq. So the Big Humanitarians who support this Islamist insurrection will have to kill more than just Assad: They will have to kill off half of the population of Syria.

I came here not to quote anything, but to post this which most on Care2 fall in this category. My articles which I forward to all my friends, almost none are even noted by my animal friends which to me shows they do not understand life. All my articles have been educational or worthwhile, yet most here DO NOT get it! A dumb down society & believers of false flag, lies & deception because this is how those evil who have the power/control wants you & yet you all fail to see how you are controlled. You support the killing of innocent in wars. SHAME you cannot think for yourself. History keeps repeating itself. SEEK TRUTH! After the destruction of Libya & the killing of Gaddafi, now we know it was lies & deceptions yet again & again. Now Syria, Iran, for stealing of resources. Seek truth, think, open eyes.

No need for any retraction, Cal. This comes from the BBC which I trust far more than the dodgy sites mentioned above.

Profile: Abdo Hussameddin, Syrian ex-deputy oil minister.
Abdo Hussameddin said he was joining "the revolution of this dignified people"

From his graduation from the al-Baath University, with a degree in petroleum engineering, through a 33-year career within the Syrian state apparatus, Abdo Hussameddin's career has displayed all the hallmarks of a government insider.

So his video denunciation of the government of President Bashar al-Assad will be especially encouraging for the rebels.

According to his CV, published on the website Syrian Oil and Gas News, he was born in 1954, is married with four children, and is said to be fluent in English and French.

It is unclear whether he is a member of the Alawite sect, the minority from which many members of Syria's governing elite are drawn, but he is known to be a member of the ruling Baath Party.

He rose through the ranks of the nationally owned oil company, starting as a field drilling engineer, then held a series of technocrat posts (one is described on his CV as "head of studies of craters").

In 2007 he was made a government adviser on oil refineries with responsibility for liaising with the EU and United Nations.

He was eventually elevated to the government by President Assad, who appointed him deputy oil minister in June 2009.

While not a household name in Syria - there are said to be dozens of deputy ministers in the government - he is the first member of the regime to publicly announce his defection, and the highest ranking civilian to do so.

Calle, a truth repeated a hundred times does not become a lie.

I support neither Assad, no rebels, because I don't know who will be better for the world: Hesbola or Al-Queda. Let them decide for themselves, with us watching.

Charles O (209)

I stand corrected. The defection is not a hoax.

As Calle J. says, there is no separate "oil ministry" in Syria. But there is a "Petroleum and Mineral Wealth" ministry, and that is where Abdo Hussameddin served. Sources seem to use "oil ministry" colloquially, and I was misled by that.

According to the wikipedia entry, Abdo Hussameddin

> worked as a drilling engineer for the state-owned Syrian Oil Company. Rising through the oil and gas industry in Syria, he was appointed general manager of the State Establishment for Oil Refining in March 2009.[1] He was appointed aide to the Oil Minister in Syria in August 2009.[2]

Whether Abdo Hussameddin has been in government for 33 years, as claimed, depends, I suppose, on whether one counts working for a state-owned oil company as government employment.
