The mass acquisition or lease of arable land in developing countries, especially in Africa, by foreign investors - a practice aggravated by the outbreak of the financial crisis in 2007 - has reached record highs, according to several new studies.

This is another Care2 News article:

Africa Sitting on Sea of Groundwater Reserves

Environment (tags: climate, climate-change, green, ecosystems, environment, GoodNews, water, world, climatechange )
- uk.reuters.com
Huge reserves of underground water in some of the driest parts of Africa could provide a buffer against the effects of climate change.
=======================================
So, they steal the land -- then, GETTING READY TO MOVE IN TO STEAL THE UNDERGROUND WATER RESERVES, TOO????? Hmmmmm?

I wouldn't count on that NOT happening. I wouldn't bet against it!
[Who but the Mega-Corporations would have access to the hi-tech drilling methods to access underground water reserves? And, as in this article, we ALREADY KNOW they have absolutely NO COMPUNCTIONS about stealing other peoples', other Continents', most basic Natural Resources.....]

When in the "developed countries" the Water Resources are depleted because of Fracking, Pollution by herbicides and pesticides, Radioactive Waste, Mining, etc. etc. -- what a chance for the Corporations to move in and make their Profit$$$ out of misery on TWO Continents!

Can Bill Gates be considered a true philanthropist when he's buying so much of Africa's fertile farmland to be planted w/GMO crops? And he was a member of the notorious ALEC?

This article is very informative. I didn't know the land grabbing was so extensive. It needs to be stopped. Thanks Cal.
