I quote from this article: "Palestinian journalist Yousef Al-Shayeb was also arrested, in late March, after publishing an investigative report in the Jordanian Al-Ghad newspaper that questioned the activities of the Palestinian Authority embassy in Paris, and refusing to reveal his sources. "

If some day, the Palestinians do acquire statehood, incidents like these only give an insight to what kind of government will lead.

Why should Israel be coerced into having these creeps for neighbours? I wouldn't want them anywhere near me.

"We monitored a new trend of arresting people and journalists and the oppression of freedom of expression," Shawan Jabarin, director of Palestinian human rights group Al Haq told IPS

+++++++++++++++++++++++ This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone!

The media and Western human rights protesters always criticize Israel...not because Israel is the worst abuser but because Israel is the safest target. They know that if they told the truth about Arab countries or went to Arab countries to protest abuses and discrimination, they'd get beaten or killed.

I am sorry to hear that they are being attacked. It is not a surprise to see this happening because the use of violence is an accepted practice for addressing problems.

THERE IS NOTHING NEW HERE - THE PALESTINIAN AUTHORITY WILL ALWAYS GO OUT OF ITS WAY TO MAKE LIFE AS DIFFICULT FOR IT'S PEOPLE AND CURTAIL FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION WHEREVER IT CAN. SO, ONE MIGHT ASK - WHAT ELSE IS NEW? THE P.A ARE NOT INTERESTED IN DEMOCRACY OR PEACE.

22 Arab states were created for one ethnic group by the colonial powers only to reward good personal relations. The clans - kings, princes, emirs, whatever - got their fiefdoms, preferably with oil, as family business. Citizen are no good, imported workforce covers all needs.

PA took the same approach, just instead of oil money they are getting "peace-making" money, in a rate of ONE BILLION BUCKS through UNWRA, another BILLION BUCKs through US Aid. PA has to make sure Palestinian Arabs are treated badly enough for the "peace-making" money to continue to come.
