People have a right to know what they are eating. They also have a right to know what the issues are. If the genetic engineers believe that they are saving the world, they should come forward and say why and how,
People are then entitled to choose between yes and no, but also between possibly safer alternative ways to save the world from starvation.

People should also have the right to choose uncontaminated produce. Unfortunately, due to cross pollination and the control of our seed stocks by Monsanto, we no longer have that choice in many cases.

40 other countries label their GMO- foods - only here is it a major issue that doesn't get resolved. Could it have anything at all to do with the money Congress gets from Monsanto, I wonder?????

I don't want to consume GMO anything. I have the right to know what I am eating. Our labeling laws don't go far enough either. FDA doesn't require GMO's to actually be tested for safety. The EPA should ban them as they are already causing dieasterous results with the insect population. GMO's are killing off the bees. The insect that damage and destroy the crops are developing immunity to GMO's.

The bottom line is "Don't mess with Mother Nature".

Monsanto has been fighting this tooth and nail and every other way. If their crap WAS safe, they would have labeled it from the git-go gladly. They would have advertised it. They have done quite the opposite. Obviously, there are problems with their crap and it isn't good or safe to be fed to anyone or anything. We need to get rid of their "purchased" politicians and " government officials" that have proven they will sell their souls for money. They have been sneaky from the very beginning-that SCREAMS their guilt and underhandedness. Start hurting them by not purchasing processed food. Try to buy as much organic food as you can. Tell your grocery stores you want to see labels on all they sell or you will not purchase from them. If you have space-put in your own organic vegetable beds. Go to farmer's markets. Can or freeze fruit and vegetables. It is easy to do and then YOU know exactly what you are eating and where it came from and how it was actually processed. You are then the one in control-not Monsanto, not their bought and paid for oficials, just YOU.

In Connecticut - our Congress and State Senators voted for GMO labeling, but our blankety blankety Governor Malloy shot it down. I wonder who's in his pocket? I will refrain from using every swear word in the book on him, but you get the message... He is not well liked in this state because of this.

GMO's must be labeled! I would prefer that GMO's are banned completely like they are in Europe.

Cigarettes and alcohol have warning labels. Does it stop people from buying? Nope. What are they afraid of if they do label? Like they are going to be sued or something? What are they really hiding? I bet when the CEOs go home, they slip out of their human costumes and crawl around on the walls and ceilings like the cockroaches they are.

Thanks Cal.....I agree with Jim, I think GMO products should be labeled. But, the smartest thing to do would be to BANNED GMO products. Monsanto doesn't give a s**t what they are selling to people. Just like the government, they don't care, either. Monsanto and the government are working together, there's big money in making people sick or killing them. BANNED Monsanto and the government, they are both worthless!!!!!!!!!!!

i think this has an excellent chance of passing in california because californians have a love affair with food. californians have been ahead of the game for decades when it comes to eating healthy and wanting to know what it is they are eating. there is no additional cost to labeling. that scare tactic is utter BS. the organic ice cream makers that do not use rbgh in their cows have to put the stupid label that "rbgh is not known to cause ill health effects". idiots that genetically modify the food can put a simple two line label on their products. boo hoo!

true, only a ban is the right thing. there are tens of thousands more food allergies than ever before, and started occurring more frequently when GMOs were put on the market without telling anyone about it. GMOs also contain more sugars since they are grown with chemical fertilizers to get them to grow bigger. and does anyone wonder why diabetes is so out of control? using recombinant dna methods to alter food was never part of the biological plan that enables human bodies to digest food for the nutrients needed. the birds and the bees worked extremely well at pollinating food. now we are having a bee extinction because of the chemicals required to grown GMOs. no more GMOs! bring back the small family farms, stop writing city ordinances that prohibits small animals from being grown in backyards, stop writing city ordinances that prohibits front yards for being used to grow food gardens.

GMOs is not food it is a way for big company's to sale chemical fertilizer an GM seeds to farmers "IT IS ALL ABOUT THE MONEY AN THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT YOU AND YOUR FAMILY" if you want safe food you better start growing your own. =^..^=
