Researchers provide evidence that the main source of the toxic metal is bullets from hunters that are left behind in animal carcasses, which the huge birds eat.

We've known thia for years yet it continues to be ignored and the hunting lobby continues to demand lead shot! I've seen stomach contents of these birds and it's amazing what junk they pick up and eat! Just about any item of litter is included but it is the elad that inhibits reproducton and wastes the bird.

noted.Shameful. Hunting for pleasure should be illegal. Don't care what freedoms are compromised.
They should be hunting with cameras if at all.
Thanks Cal

Sadly, this has been going on for years, and while Condors have tried to make a comeback into LIFE, they are getting "SHOT DOWN" sadly no pun!

If it takes a broader ban on lead-based ammunition to protect the condor from extinction, then that's what they have to do! So why aren't they doing it?

And yet (no surprise here) the NRA flat-out REFUSES to support legislation which would make lead-jacketed ammunition illegal when hunting in areas frequented by condors.

Is ANYONE shocked?

What is the purpose of lead in ammo anyway. We need to save the Condors. They play an important role in the eco system. Humans with lead in ammo does not.

A petition to the House and Senate of the US is needed to ask them for a Federal law to outlaw lead in ammunition.
