It appears that Russia has forgotten that the Soviet Union no longer exists. Another example of the old adage, "One step forward, two steps back."

Horrible. Probably a lot of people are effectively slaves anyway - wage slaves.

I'm very put off by the policies of Russia lately. Putin is beginning to show all the signs of a Stalin in re-emergence. Putin has taken on the old Russian view point that the value of human life is less than that of a fly.

"“Slave labor is growing because the economy is growing,” said Vera Gracheva, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe coordinator for combatting trafficking in human beings. “The need for labor is growing faster than supply of workers. The world economy is global, its interest is to exploit cheap labor.”

Putin has learned his lessons well from the American companies, led by Nike many years ago, who have been simply moving their factories around using children and unsanitary, unsafe conditions and extremely low wages to make their shoes for a few dollars which they then sell here for more than $100. Phil Knight started this, he is no better than Putin. Neither is Mitt Romney as Joe Biden pointed out yesterday, Mitt is great at creating jobs in Singapore and other Asian countries, the "outsourcer in chief" is what he wants to be. Why should Putin do any different, he is following the model of American business which has no standing to criticize Russia for doing what they have been doing for decades. Hypocrites and traffickers, each and every one of them. And their millionaire pet athletes lending credibility to those horrific practices are no better. THEY contribute to the degradation of the human soul as much as do the businessman who do business in this way. Global economy? Global slave trade is what it is. And we're part of it, we STARTED it. Not even going to get started on the slobs here who bring in women slaves for sex. We like to criticize, correctly, Islamic heretics who rape and abuse women, but we aren't so holier-than-though as we pretend, because the traffic in women here is huge also. The war is on women AND children in business and sex. My gender sometimes disgusts me and it certainly does in these two filthy areas.

wow. I don't know what the solution is. Survival of the unfitist over the majority. Some insects (certain type of ants?) turn others into slaves. Some insects implant their eggs into a host to be slowly devored by the growing larvae. There is some sort of analogy here. Maybe humans are more closely related to insects than mammals? If man was created in the image of God (as some believe), maybe God isn't very humane? I hope this isn't the case, but there sure are alot of mean spirited bastards running around .
