Syria's capital, Damascus, is seeing the fiercest fighting since the beginning of the uprising, according to reports.

A few shells is not the "fiercest". When Assad will feel really threatened, then will the real stuff begin.

I just keep wondering if it wasn't for oil interests there, would the scenario be the same..? I feel sad that we have not stood up for Tibet even though the Dalai Lama is so beloved of so many here and abroad.

I just hope the talk about Assad using chemical weapons as a last resort is just talk. 17000 plus dead and counting. What a disgrace!!!

Stan, people invented and created chemical weapons in order to use them. Considering the absence of any respect for human life in many Arab countries, and totally racist attitudes toward people from other ethnic clans, I would not be surprised if Assad deploy chemicals against Al-Queda Sunnis.

He knows they will have no merci for him either.

Al Jazeera reported that Syria has fired rockets into Lebanon today. No further news as to who they were fired at or if there were casualties and damage.

The death toll is horrible.
I hope that this will end soon.

NATO preparing vast disinformation campaign vs. Syria
Circulate this article on the Internet and alert your elected officials
Member States of NATO and the GCC are preparing a coup d’état and a sectarian genocide in Syria. If you want to prevent these crimes, you should act now: circulate this article on the Internet and alert your elected officials.

NATO has failed categorically to sell UNSC mandated military intervention to an increasingly unreceptive global public. With fighting reported in Damascus and the Western media and the so-called "Free Syrian Army" hailing it as the "final battle" despite zero tactical victories in nearly a year and a half of fighting, the stage is being set instead for a massive psychological operation.

Such an operation was warned against in mid-June by Thierry Meyssan - and provides a somber warning more pertinent now than ever. Please re-read, re-post, & re-tweet this article - ensure that NATO's "Mermaid Dawn" moment in Syria turns into a "Bay of Pigs" defeat instead. Learn more">

Parisfal, could you please explain what are you trying to say? That Saudi-supported Al-Queda cannot take over Iran-supported Hesbola, and Assad is doing OK so far?

And of course not a damned country is doing a damned thing about it.
