We humans also need to reduce consumption of new wood and wood products, and meat - to restrain the pressure on forests.

seems the d.r. will be better for animals than people.
when I sailed there,people were living in cardboard boxes in puerto plata, and we were boarded by eight soldiers weilding machine guns.
I call the town putrid plata,would NEVER RETURN THERE.

This is good news. The island of Hispanola needs all the forests it can get. Haiti has decimated the forests on their half of the island. The more DR can protect, the better.
