That's the way it should be. People form different sides of the floor still recognizing each other's humanity and merits instead of just spewing fear and paranoia. Good on McCain.

"“These allegations about Huma Abedin, and the report from which they are drawn, are nothing less than an unwarranted and unfounded attack on an honorable citizen, a dedicated America and a loyal public servant,” McCain continued."

I watched a good bit of this on Rachel Maddow's show last night. There is at least one honorable man left in the Republican party. We don't share political views, but we are both veterans, and though I supported the President in 2008, I was proud of Senator McCain's refusal to stoop to the level of political mud his supporters wanted him to. Last night Rachel showed a clip of him during a speech in the last election, where he'd given the mike to a woman in the audience to ask her question and she said Obama wasn't American, Senator McCain shook his head, took the mike back and refuted her. That party could use a LOT more people like him in it. They might have a chance of recapturing the respect of the American people if they did.

Like Gene, I don't share Sen. McCain's polital views or ideology, but I have to give hime kudos for having the decency to stand up to Bachmann's false accusations against Ms. Abedin. Sen. McCain seems to be the ONLY Republican with any decency left in their soul.

He did the right thing, but in my view he stopped short. Ms. McCarthy, I mean Bachmann should be asked to resign for being dishonorable.
