Most of the world's polar bears are likely to disappear in the next 30 to 50 years if the Arctic continues to heat up as climatologists predict, two University of Alberta scientists say.

Another one of the sad realities of climate change. Unfortunately, the corporations that contribute most heavily to it couldn't care less.

Why are we allowing people to continue hunting these animals? Are their numbers not declining fast enough?

It may be too late, but we have to do everything we can to stop this. The only polar bears will be in pictures. Hopefully our kids will do a better job than we are doing at saving the species and the earth.

Noted! OK, Sorry here!!! The Polar bears are not going anywhere due to "Global Warming" WHY? Because that's BS!!!!!! There is no "Global Warming"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!And for those of you who believe in such nonsense...Well you have just plain been GORE-ed! If anything my only concern for polar bears is man hurting them!

Elaine A,
You and I agree on 99% of things but not on this one.Climate change ie global warming unfortunately does exist.Do some research and you will see.
Hunting is another massive problem and we need to start targeting these bastards

Elaine, I wonder what basic scientific proofs or evidences your assertions & critics have!! (e.g. bad words prove NOTHING)!!!!
For example, in:
I specifically refer not to my personal “humoral sensations”, on the contrary, I refer only to up-to-date statements, declarations & assumptions made by Scientists working in the field, that I’m humble enough to realize that they really know the issue better than me…...
In the same thread, the presence as a Member in the Group “Orangutans: Men of the Forest” -- that you UNJOINED -- of a person like Angelina Jolie, as a Delegate for the United Nations for Climate Change counts, much more than words or bad words…
Just give a look at the satellite pictures of the Arctic, or Greenland, or whatever Glacier on this Earth, & compare them not to the pictures taken 50 years ago, it’s sufficient to compare them with satellite pictures taken only 5 years ago to realize the difference!!!!
The above-said doesn’t mean that I don’t fight also against the Hunting of Polar Bears!!!!!!! i.e. among the 8,804 Care2-only Petitions, that I signed since June 2010 (not 2009 as my Profile says), a lot of them are also for Polar Bears…

Duh but let's keep pumping out that Tar Sands oil, Canada. Sadly, polar bears aren't the only species facing extinction. I think humans, rats, and roaches are safe but every other species better watch it, your days are numbered.

Sunday July 22, 2012, 5:11 am very sad to see this picture of this bear in that heart is so broken by all of these changes that are killing our natural wildlife, and for what???? PROGRESS!!!! BULLS***!!! I would rather continue as we are than loose our wildlife...the world is only getting to be harder and harder to live in, so stop all the killing and let's just do the best we can!!!!!! God help us!!!

It is a disgrace that we can't even take care of the place that feeds us! Greed is obviously the only issue on most people's minds! Really sad!!!

The future prospects of polar bears is rather gloomy. But it's now the same for the entire planet. Our children will curse us - if they are still alive.
