This is not a time to be political as it is to be a statesman. It is better to use his office to put forward legislation than sound bites.
There is noting to be gained by talking gun control as it is bringing the victims into focus. Gun control legislation will not be won by the newspapers as it will in discussions in congress.

Thanks Cal for posting the huffingtonpost.com by Sam Stein. I must agree with Ira now "not a time to be political as it is to be a statesman." I am an advocate for strong gun control but feel that with the prospect of more progressive Dems in Congress after November will be the time to push for a more sensible approach to gun control legislation. Read and noted.

Obama has become the diametric opposite of the Mr Hope and Change of 4 years ago and has morphed into another sleazy politician who lied, cheats and misrepresents whiel failing at leadership. There's not a non-political or photo op bone in his body.

I thought the thrust of this article was about Obama's support for gun control, which has fallen by the waste side over the years, to the point where is has become non-existent.
