"Nancy Zaboun, a 27-year-old mother of three, was violently killed by her husband on Jul. 30 in Bethlehem. The murder took place after Zaboun left a divorce hearing. Her husband had reportedly beaten her regularly over the course of their ten-year marriage."

There is no "honor" in murder. And murdering a member of one's own family is the foulest kind of all. The Pakistani brother who murdered his sister IN a court room for following her heart (they didn't get a big enough dowry), it isn't just Palestine where women are being brutalized and murdered, it is happening in every country ruled by Sharia law. You don't need laws protecting women's rights, you need to change your existing laws to recognize them as full, independent human beings. Then you are on the path to peace, until you do that, women will suffer and die at the hands of those they should be able to trust most. That is inhumane no matter how you look at it and should be an affront to any person who claims to be a person of faith. We are all in this together and women are full partners, not chattel, not cattle, full partners. Until that day, this is not a civilization, it is barbarity brought into the 21st century, nothing more. What must end is the kind of thinking that values only male lives. That starts within and at home. That is where you change things. You treat these criminals as the murderer's they are, you don't slap them on the wrist or look the other way, you try them and you separate them from the rest of us for they have shown that we are not safe with them walking freely among us. That would be honorable.

It will take a long time for this to change. Even with changes in the law these attitudes can go underground for hundreds of years.
