Despite that over 80% of Americans are strongly opposed to horse slaughter, the trade in horse meat continues to operate in the shadows. In an effort to curtail this inhumane industry, the new American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act is up for a vote that

For every action there is a reaction. According to the law of karma, if we cause

pain and suffering to other living beings, we must endure pain and suffering in

return, both individually and collectively. We reap what we sow, in this life and

the next, for nature has her own justice. No one can escape the law of karma.

Signed. Butchering any animal is barbaric. horeses are pretty, so, some people are repulsed by the thought of butchering and eating them or harming hem. If we look beyond our conditioning as to what is acceptable to strip rights away from and kill, and what is not, we can see that we all are equal and none of us deserves to be treated badly, butchered as food, controlled by unfeeling, menacing people.

Noted, signed and shared. I do have a Facebook account and I use it only for causes that include cross posting and helping sheltered animals. Strong, sacrificed and dedicated work that a persistent , compromised group of people do every single day, otherwise, instead of the next to 12 million dogs dead for 2011 (cats are not included) only god knows how many could they be! No, I don't like Facebook per se but it's where the strongest support for sheltered animals is exercised. That group of people is so concentrated in what they do that give the impression they are not interested in anything else. Sometimes I have said they act automatically but the same intensity and level of urgency is what you feel everyday when you see the number of animals listed to be killed soon (it's always too soon), the Red Codes, (sooner) ,the ones with very little oportunity and the ones killed without ever having an oportunity...... In ALL cases, pledgings, donations are expected on behalf of animals because they must be vet checked the moment they are rescued. Dogs/cats depend on that. Many times even having money they die because there are no homes willing to foster them or adopt or the animal is too old and rescues do not want to risk the possibility of having to take care of an animal that as many people think, will cost more than a younger one and if animal is not adopted, rescue will be responsible for it's care. (it have never happened to me with an oldie) Cross posters on Facebook are the ones posting information, asking for pledgings, organizing rescues, transportation, looking for foster homes, fostering themselves many times , donating, transportating themselves sometimes, gathering money for emergencies, bringing animals to vet in case of emergency, They push for oldies, mommas & pups, pregnant, bull type , big dogs, stray etc..... when people is prefering puppy mills products that are filling shelters every day. They also look for lost animals, follow cruelty cases or suspicious rescuings or adoptions etc...... That is Facebook for some: the oportunity to help. And they do. Even if they do not answer your messages or you may think they are "stucked" there , they are the ones 24/7 for sheltered animals. No, I don't like Facebook but I want animals to live. I see too many rescues interested in money only but I see some other really sacrificing. As far as yesterday, I saw a rescuer saving an old, sick dog from shelter with no pledgings at all ( victim of worms, arthritis, infections, cancer and needing love as air to breath) She wanted to love that dog and make it happy. What can I say? It happened on Facebook. If 20 million people would help to support sheltered animals wherever they could be, very probably, those hard working fellows could have more time to work for other causes with the same determination. Animals need that. 20 million are not doing enough for horses either. We are not doing enough for horses and they end very far from home in food plates and satifying some people taste for horsemeat. How could this be? The list is long, we could talk and cry about wolves, burros, foxes, wild lions, coyotes etc... Fortunely, we are more than 20 millions and we can do that out of Facebook.

This is disgusting. Horses are to ride or for work (or both), not to eat. Just because some cultures find it acceptable does not mean Americans have to participate.
