A former federal environment minister has joined the mounting fracas around the proposed Northern Gateway pipeline, arguing the project is not in Canada's best interest and that Enbridge (TSX:ENB) is the "last company in North America" that should be per

Wouldn't it be nice to see the environment placed ahead of profits on this one. Thanks Cal.

Why is everyone against this 100% safe pipeline that will only benefit Enbridge directors and a few politicians. Like Smell they can guarantee they have all the technology and equipment to mop up in the unlikely event of a spill.
Why is it that only the politicians believe these safety stories?
If Canada allows this pipeline it will only be a matter of time before they have another disaster and its common knowledge that they won't clean it up.

How do you know when a politician is lying to you? Their lips move and it's the same with the economists. Why is it the majority of politicians are economists and lawyers? Hmmm.
I stand with First Nations on this one - NO PIPELINE. The track record of Enbridge and every other big energy company cares only about one thing and one thing only: Maximum Short Term Profit. It's their god and we're the sacrifice if they get their way.

When will the prime minister understand that he is there to do what the canadians want not what is good for his wallet. He is taking huge and nefast decision for Canada and we, canadians, don't like it. So, open your ears and listen, Mr. Harper.

Thanks for posting Cal. I agree with the First Nations, and prey this pipeline does not go through. The whole route is wrong, and Edbridge has the worst track record. I don't believe in risking an environmental disaster that would take years to clean up and millions of dollars (or more), just to get the product to Asia.
The Prime Minister is definitely not thinking clearly on this one, nor is the Premier of Alberta.

Harper should not have the ability to approve any kind of project without discussion with the people of the country first, has he not heard our voices?!

Their support for the Northern Gateway Pipeline will eventually be the Harper Regime's downfall. They have greatly underestimated the amount of opposition that they will face on this issue over the next few years. Rather than backing down, they will stubbornly forge ahead, attempting to discredit those who oppose it. The public backlash will peak just in time for the next election, which will see them turfed out in favour of the NDP.

Thanks for the post, Cal!
