As the fight over a constitutional right shifts to a dubious South Carolina measure, the GOP doubles down on restrictive voting laws.

Alexandra, you have your freedom of speech as we all do. The majority of Americans believe that requiring a photo ID to vote is in order. Everyone has a photo ID if they are cashing checks, driving a car, buying life insurance, applying for medicare, medicaid, all forms of welfare subsistance, college students entering college. In our country today, you can't exist without a photo ID.

Just another GOP lie, wrapped in a nice sugar coating to make it seem reasonable.

The Republican-sponsored voter I.D. law was blocked in Texas, and "A federal judge ordered the battleground state of Ohio to open its polling places three days before the Nov. 6 election, giving a victory to the Obama campaign and marking the sixth ruling in recent weeks to block or void new voting rules set by Republican-dominated state legislatures." (from the Lose Angeles Times).

"All over the country, in dozens of states, Republican lawmakers, fueled by the corporatist American Legislative Exchange Council [ALEC], have enacted legislation aimed at curing voter fraud. No one has yet proven any measurable in-person voter fraud, mind you. But the politicians and bureaucrats supporting the new restrictions argue this doesn't matter; the mere possibility of future voter fraud is a good enough reason to burden voters." Fueled by ALEC, the brainchild of the Koch Brothers? Now we know it's corrupt!

Why can't we all vote on one day when the polls are open dawn to well after dusk? This early voting, mail voting all contribute to a process gone bad and of course, fraud.

Voting is a privilege of citizenship and we should never be afraid of proving our identity in order to exercise that privilege and no, I'm an Independent who is tired of the BS from both sides.
