Wiping Out the Forests of the World -- this is what human civilization has been doing, for millenia. What's the first thing that comes to your mind when thinking about Iraq? "Cedar forest so dense that sunlight never reaches the ground" isn't it ? The Arabian Peninsula used to be oak savannah. The Near East was heavily forested. You HAVE heard of the cedars of Lebanon (still in their flag, gone otherwise) ? Greece was heavily forested. North Africa was heavily forested ... .. . . .. ...

It's bad enough we are chopping, harvesting, and burning the forests like mad, now our human caused global warming is doing even more damage. If we don't start doing some fast forest repair, we are doomed!!

Yet another tipping point. However, though doom seems inevitable for life on this planet, we have to keep on striving to reverse global warming.

We can't afford to loose any more trees. People need to start listening to science and not big business and politicians and so something about global warming.

Once the forests start to go the rest of the planet is in even more danger since the forests are home to precious species.

Our destruction of the planet is so advanced that we don't have to touch a tree to destroy the forest. Scary.

This is a perfect example of the concept "diffusion of responsibility," which notes that the greater the number of people exposed to a problem situation, the less likely it is that any one of them will feel responsible to try and do anything it, and the longer it'll take for that person to react. This is a robust effect and it's been demonstrated in countless psychological studies.

We have burgeoning numbers of people on this planet; stress and anxiety are on the rise; and the extra TIME needed to learn about and deal with problem situations is now almost nonexistent.

Put all these together and the situation doesn't look too promising, does it.
