Scepticism continues in Canada about why the national government abruptly cut off diplomatic relations with Iran earlier this month, although ties between the two states have been rocky since the 1979 Iranian Revolution.

Being that England has withdrawn its embassy in Iran a couple of years ago, it is not surprising that Canada has done so. Will Australia follow?

There was a Haaretz article where Ehud Barak stated that the US is increasing their presence around Iran. I think that this could lead to some retaliation. I think Canada was told to get out of dodge because what maybe coming.

Being that Israel is the only free, democratic country in the whole region, threatened on all sides daily, it is indeed uplifting to see a country that has such respect for freedom and justice to strengthen its support and ties with this little David surround by hateful Giants.

Britain's intelligence MI6 has stated that Iran IS making nuclear weapons and should have them by 2014, not that anyone with any intelligence at all would believe any of their denials. Why aren't we hearing more from all the others? Is their information being repressed? (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/middleeast/iran/9545597/Armada-of-international-naval-power-massing-in-the-Gulf-as-Israel-prepares-an-Iran-strike.html)

Iran's fanatical Islamist Dictators have said more than once they want Israel destroyed. Why wouldn't this little wonderful country, that has produced so many gifted scientists and benefits for humankind, feel threatened and feel the need to do a pre-emptive strike to destroy the WMD factories? The US would have done it long ago had it thought Mexico or Canada were doing the same and threatening it with destruction. What sane country wouldn't?

Thanks Cal

An extract from the article clearly shows that far too many Canadian universities still display blatant anti-Semitism, which includes a hatred of Israel to the point where they actually look for good things to say about a terrorist country!

Reg Whitaker, ajunct political science professor at the University of Victoria and the author of various books on national security said, “The problem is that the Harper government has a consistent record of relentlessly demonising the Iranian regime and interpreting everything it does in the worst possible light,” he told IPS.

“The most notorious example is the (the prime minister’s) statement that Iran is not only pursuing nuclear weapons but that they have indicated that they would use them against Israel: a grotesque misrepresentation for which there is not a shred of evidence in the words of any Iranian official,”.

Ahmadinejad has continually called for the destruction of Israel and has promised that the first nuclear warhead will be sent to Israel, I don't think that it is as a peace present!

One of the reasons why I agree with the RaBIT movement in Canada. I did read not so many months ago a report from a British intelligence colonel who basically stated that Iran already had one nuclear device that was active as of 2005. I don't think Iran has a reliable delivery system though at least as of yet. Then again it could be mere speculation or disinformation too.

The article is so biased and disingenuous, it sounds like someone from CAIR wrote it.

God bless Canada for its support of Israel. Yes Alan, it IS time for Australia to withdraw its Embassy from Iran, too. Thanks Cal.

As a Canadian, I can say that Harper is supported by many in his action against Iran. Convinced Liberals and even NDP people expressed support for that move - they actually asked what were we doing there in the first place.

Student groups in universities are often funded by fees taken from unsuspecting students by well-organized Islamic lobbies. Pretending to be charities, they, in essence, steal the funding and divert it into anti-Israel propaganda. This is a known phenomena, I hope Harper will be able to address it as well.

He managed to stem out foreign interest groups spreading false propaganda here. Hopefully he will do a good job by cleaning our universities as well.
