An Iranian woman got so mad at being told to dress "modestly" by a cleric that she put him in hospital.

In many an oppressive country, women have no choice but to either take the abuse or to rise up and fight back. Their abusers have to sleep sooner or later, right?

I hope that this woman isn't going to be prosecuted for her actions. In Iran, she might be facing jail time.

Good thing he's not pressing charges (yet)... she'd land in prison, for sure.

My only concern is about her welfare, following the incident.
I hope she knows how to hide, well.

Sharia is crime; enforcing sharia is felony assault! Mujadeen are heretic misinterpreters of the faith. Sharia should be destroyed as a 'morality' law, and Islam has to come out of the 1300s and 1400s to be an acceptable faith in the modern world!

I hope more women find the courage to speak out, if not hit out.

If the women of this -male dominating religion -refused to be treated as non identities -downed tools and went on strike ,their positions would soon improve -not until they all make a stand will their lives change-good for her-it might start a trend.

too bad she didn't circumcise him and make him an automatic Jew (I know, I doesn't work that way). Or do a Loretta Bobbitt and give him a good singing voice (that may have worked). Good thing he didn't take it to court, probably accepting a bribe from her menfolk.
I encountered a Russian Orthedox nun yesterday...dressed in black, she explained her outfit was way earlier than the muslim garb. Sure looked similar. Sooo my point is not everywoman wrapped in black is muslim! Martha Stewart is right!--you learn something new every day!

Great Story!! thanks.

Women in this oppressive, bigoted Islamic theocracy can be beaten and yanked off the streets by the religious police and hauled to their notrious jails if an ankle shows.

Just looking at that photo of all those women draped in black tents makes the blood boil. We see so much of that here where we live - Muslim women with nothing but face and hands showing in the broiling heat and humidy of summer while their menfolk stroll along beside (or in front of) them in T-shirts, shorts and flip-flops. Makes us want to beat somebody up too, and not the women.

We have to wonder why Obama and all the other enthusiastic Western leaders were so eager to support and promote the Saudi/Muslim Brotherhood backed 'Arab Spring' which promised to bring more Iran-style Islamic intolerant governments, when they refused to do anything to help the Iranian people when they tried to rise up and throw off this 7th century Islamic dictatorship.

More good news too is that mosque attendance in Iran is down to 2%! Iranians (who are not Arabs) are leaving Islam in droves (tho that is death in Islam) and many are reclaiming their ancient roots in Zoroastrianism, the ancient religion of the great Persian Kingdom until the Islamic invasion, conquest and massacres that forced Islam on this once great nation. It's been downhill ever since.

Maybe now they can free themselves from this tyranny, but will Obama et al do anything to help? Seems not, and Iran is the most likely of the Muslim ruled countries to become a real free democracy, unlike the others. Such a shame.

Oh, dear! I hope she can remain safe and HIDDEN!

Rob & Jay....the President and other leaders of the democratic world is supporting "Arab Spring" because it's the right thing to do. IF and WHEN people in the Muslim world learn to use the democratic process...they'll be taking the first step toward overthrowing these extremists.

Our democracy MUST support the development of another....that's the way international leadership works.

After thousands of years' tribal rule.....democracy isn't very well going to happen overnight.'s the only hope for this part of the world and President Obama (et al) realizes it.

But Pam, helping to install just another Islamist, Muslim Brotherhood, Saudi-backed tyranny is NOT furthering the cause of 'democracy' at all. These places are becoming more Islamic under Sharia rule, a brutal, intolerant 7th cent. tribal law, worse than the dictators they had before.

Obama specifically turned his back on the liberal, progressive movement in these countries and supported the Muslim Brotherhood and the Saudis, just as he's doing again in Syria, despite seeing what happened in the other Arab Spring failures. Christian leaders in the region tried to get him to intervene to stop the ethnic cleansing of Christians in these Muslim ruled lands, and he refused to even meet with them!

He's showing he knows exactly what he's doing and who he is backing, and it is NOT democracy, which is far more than just being able to vote. People in the USSR got to 'vote' too, remember, but no one would ever call that a 'democracy' any more than the brutes taking over in the Arab dominated countries now, where minorities like Christians, gays and Baha'is are being ethinically cleansed, and Obama remains silent.

There are 57 Muslim-majority countries that are rapidly becoming ruled by Muslim barbarians like the ones in Libya, Egypt and other Arab countries, while their Muslim brothers in USA are working hard together with Barak Hussein Obama to subvert First Amendment (Freedom of Speech) to prevent truth about Islam and Mohamed to be known. Barak Hussein Obama should be sent to Iran to help women there, or to Egypt where his Muslim brothers, whom he allows into the White house, and whom he gave $1.5 BILLIONS help their war on women and Israel.

The first law that the new Muslim Brothers' Egyptian Parliament passed was to allow grieving husband have sex with his dead wife until 6 hours after death. NICE! This is what American taxpayers money is used for in Egypt! Barak Hussein Obama is a danger to women, and human rights everywhere. He is a traitor to American values and human rights EVERYWHERE as sharia Muslims are. They cannot help overcome their early indoctrination with supremacist genocidal misogynistic ideology of Islam,

The young Iranian women better escape from Iran before they stone or behead her., as they certainly will. Politically correctness has totally friend minds of some bleeding hearts Obama supporters.

Muslim men ARE circumcised, just like most Americans and Jews are. Europeans do not usually circumcise boys, but they have higher incidence of penile and cervical cancer. What you probably meant to say that this brave Iranian women should have cut the balls of that "holly man" , but that would be too violent ;-)!

That photograph, if it is meant to be of "Iranian women", is somewhat mis-leading.

According to videos I have seen recently of Iran, women in cities, anyway, no longer dress that way.
This may be a photograph taken right after the Islamic takeover. But it is not current, unless this was some special place or occasion.

Women in Iran ARE required to wear headscarves. But, according to current videos I have seen of Iran {Tehran}, the women often wear colorful, not black, headscarves, and have a bit of their hair in front, peeking out!
The women ARE required to "cover up" in long, black coats. {NOT the voluminous nun-like garb shown in the picture.} But underneath, they often wear blue jeans, heels, and other stylish wear. They "get away with" as much as they are able to, in their dress.

You can go see Rick Steve's videos on Iran, if you want to, on the Internet. There are also other videos that can be accessed. Go see for yourself!

Iranian women, like women in ALL Islamic countries, are fighting back in their own ways! They are as capable of freeing themselves, as our grandmothers and great-grandmothers were in their own days, able to shake off oppressive male domination. Also, these women DO have men who support them and their battles!
"A Woman Among Warlords" is a book that tells of the struggle of women in Afghanistan...

Our intervention, from the West, is definitely NOT welcomed by women in Arab countries! For one thing, it makes their battles look like something "western" and "from outside", and not native and authentic! Our "intervention" can only HURT, not help!
I am not talking about sympathetic Petitions, etc. I am talking about armed "intervention". WAR ONLY HURTS WOMEN, CHILDREN AND FAMILIES. War ALWAYS makes things WORSE, FAR, FAR WORSE for Islamic women and their nascent movement towards Freedom!!!

Correction: I said, "Our intervention, from the West, is definitely NOT welcomed by women in Arab countries!"

I SHOULD have said, "is definitely NOT welcomed by women in ISLAMIC countries".
Iran is not an "Arab" country; Iran is PERSIAN. Different ethnic group entirely.
"Islamic" countries and "Arab" countries are NOT identical. That is an error commonly made. And I just unthinkingly made it!

While I am at it, correcting my errors, it is Rick STEVES' videos -- his last name is STEVES. He is a very well-known travel writer and film-maker {and Activist}. He also has a TV travel show.

Good for her for standing up. I really don't believe that the cleric was in hospital for 3 days. Most likely he is lying. If that truly had happened she would have been immediately severely punished and probably jailed if not worse.
