I realize they have problems....but, consider for a moment how HORRENDOUS their daily responsibilities are? Knowing they've got a terrorists TARGET on their backs is just the beginning....

Thanks - (I'll try to comment again - ugh), I posted this to my fb page earlier today hoping to justify my rants against unwarrented militaristic response to OWS and "stop and frisk" - considering it to be federally sponsored NYPD control - seems it is!

For all the funding from corporations that both parties in our two party system receive, there is never any money for education, the environment, or anything else that people need. There does, however, always seem to be enough to reinforce the police state.

Agree with Paula - the US is becoming one big police state - people open your eyes if you haven't - listen to alternative news and learn what is REALLY happening in the US and the world! Thanks Cal!

Guess we know where the jobs are, the NYPD. Seems like that is all we will have anymore join the Gastapo or a warrior overseas or end up a prisoner.Great Country, no health care, no living wage jobs, belittled if you happen to end up in the poverty trap, slam your childrens teachers, test the children to death while allowing the school to fall down around them. What a mess!

This is just horrible. I have no plans to go to NYC, and after reading this, will never make any. I'd hate to unknowingly break any of their crazy laws in this city.

Mayor Bloomberg famously bragged, "I have my own army in the NYPD, which is the seventh biggest army in the world". He must be shitting himself trying to protect his billions. Is he living in a bunker? He is surely not protecting NY, only giving the USA a bad reputation. Well, well, well, it so much sounds like Gestapo to me. Every body seems to copy them, racism, persecution of minority groups, illegal arrests, distroying evidence, corrupting the law etc. etc. POWER over people. SICK bastards.

"... 34,000 uniformed officers patrolling New York's streets, and 51,000 employees overall -- more than the FBI. It has a proposed budget of $4.6 billion for 2013..."
-Holy crap!

As noted in the article the NYPD is expanding its turf, as evidenced by its recent foray into Newark NJ to illegally survail Muslims and their environs without so much as a "how do you do" for Mayor Booker or Governor Christy.
