Most troubling are studies which show that children who are forced to live for long periods of time in immigration facilities experience declining mental health, including anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder. Simply keeping these young people on Australian shores can solve these problems.

You can bet these kids are subjected to all sorts of atrocities, including sexual assault of many types - rape, forced sodomy, molestation, forced prostitution, etc. It's absolutely shocking & appalling that a government such as Australia's is knowingly putting children in danger in this manner. Instead of providing safe shelter, physical/emotional care & basic necessities for these kids - what they are entitled to as the most vulnerable of human beings - they are shipping these kids to a screwed up island, for years at a time, which has a great deal of political problems, corruption, murders & other insanity happening on a regular basis. How do they expect these kids to one day become productive members of Australian society? They are uncaringly & absolutely unnecessarily producing the future criminals of their own country. This isn't even slightly logical, rational or at all humane.. These are the kinds of actions I would expect of some backwater banana boat nation like Indonesia, not Australia. And if we look at the historical/political happenings between Indonesia/Papua & Australia, this entire thing is even more appalling. I'm disgusted beyond belief. WTF is wrong with those elected to the Australian government?? Are they drinking on the job? Or is this really how little they care about children in general?
