Thanks cal for the link to the article by Saba Imtiaz. The Pakistan Government seems unable to do much in stemming the terrorist activity against it's citizens. Extremist Religious Fundamentalism is the scourge of humanity. Read and noted.

Terrible, and look at what is happening in Syria! Everybody is gunning down everybody, women, children, wolves, what has happened to this world? I have been told that it always was like this, even worse, it's just that we were not aware of it - no media...

My condolences to the families and friends of the murdered women.

A horrible thing is that these murderers are not just killing these 5 women they are condemning untold numbers of children to a lifetime of suffering.

I was a child when polio was rife in the USA and I had friends that had polio. The most profound cases were in iron lungs and wheelchairs.

Sorry to hear about the violent deaths of the 5 women/nurses...

The people need to be educated as to what polio is and what the disease can do to the human body.

EDUCATION, FACTS. Not fear mongering nor suspicion...

The Muslim people are so ignorant and so uneducated that they know not what they are doing to themselves -
opening themselves to the horrible disease that polio is. The same goes for many other crippling diseases out
there in the world. Vaccinations are a way of preventing the crippling nature of polio and many other disease.
When are they going to learn...???

Ty, Cal.

Wow! I guess I am the only one who can get past these headlines. If you really read about the USA forced vaccination campaigns in other countries you might get an idea of why this happened. In Japan the US tries every year to force the flu vaccine on the population, no way USA. We don't do vaccines the way the US does. We and any other country has the right to refuse these insidious and unproven chemicals. There is very little polio left in the world. The more important problem is clean water. Where there is clean water and access to food you do not see polio. The giant advertising campaigns that have blanketed American since the late 1940's always seem to leave out that A. polio was on the decline before the vaccine and B, the vaccine killed thousands of people. Although this loss of life is a tragedy, we should not try and mass vaccinate the world. I for one have not had a vaccine since I was 16 and I have never had the flu or anything else for that matter. Peace to ALL!

this part of the world desperately needs education but unfortunately people are scared and so a small minority terrorises the rest.

Have you ever read (about) such ignorance, out and out stupidity? What could possibly be going through the troubled mind of the Pakistani government?

One Islamic cleric called vaccinations Un-Islamic. Here is the result, except by now it is eight dead women.

This is going on despite Pakistan being the largest recipient of US Aid.

It's hard to believe that these women, who were doing a wonderful job for their people, should be targeted.
Mori Harada. It's unusual for anyone to miss the point of a thread like you have.

Pakistanis have had negative feelings about the polio vaccines because they were invented by Jews. The Pakistanis have assumed that this was a Jewish plot to make Muslims infertile.

If it wasn't so stupid, with so many suffering and typical, it would be funny

Ignorant fools, education is the only answer, they should be taught to think and reason, instead of swallowing everything the equally ignorant, blinkered mullahs says.

You know, it was largely Muslim medicine and science that brought western medicine and science out of the Dark Ages, because they were realistic about science when we were afraid of it, and them, and thought it was anti-Christian. The word "chemistry" comes to us through Arabic, as does "alcohol" and more terms than I can remember off hand. What the h*** happened? If it was fundamentalism, God help us.

This is just awful.polio a horrible disease. I have first hand experience & am now dealing with more problems relating to polio. If only a vacination had been available to me my life would have been very different.
