Poland is addicted to coal. That is the message the country has been sending both domestically and internationally as Warsaw prepares to host the global climate summit next year.

Okay we know that coal is not the answer but what practical alternatives can Poland be presented with that are practical and doable right now? Why isn't Germany and the rest of western Europe putting pressure on Poland to rescind the order for new coal plants?

Acting to reduce climate change can cause many other problems. Yes, we should work to stop, reduce or slow down climate change, but as we do so, we have to be mindful that there are many people whose lives might be changed in teh process, and we have to work to help them, too.

You can't argue with stupid. So, Poland is trying hard to reinvigorate the old stereotypes that gave rise to the genre of "Polish Jokes?"
Some of the people in my family, in my grandparent's generation chose not to have children because they did not want to bring children into what they saw as "This kind of world." emphasis on "sucky" in their view. Maybe they were on to something!
And, G.W.Bush, Dick Cheney, Speaker Boehner, Newt the thing, and the Tea Partyers were not even alive, back then!
