what a total waste - i'm told shark fin adds nothing in flavour to food. all it does it inflict suffering on the hapless creatures left to die slowly after being dismembered.
when will we learn to treat animals, and each other, with care and respect?

70 notes here, and I just added signature #51 (?!)

All the usual shares, but I can't help but think China could give a damn about changing this, and that a certain amount of apathy and species bias are alive and well here as well. :-(

I saw this on the tele a couple of days ago and it was upsetting just how many of these sharks fins there were
I cant imagine the misery and suffering that the sharks had to go through There were so many you could never have counted them Its appalling and time it stopped People dont need to eat all this stuff Its not even a basic food thats really needed
thanks signed

Signed. Noted. This effort needs all the support it can muster - if there is a way to create international petition on this issue, that could garner more global support. Because of the huge market drive & long-standing traditions relating to shark-fin soup, compounded by the known disinterest of Chinese government regarding international environmental concerns, there will have to be large-scale finance-based protest campaign in order to change this practice. The petition efforts might facilitate the growth of enough global support to start the necessary steps towards an international embargo upon Chinese goods unless China is willing to address wide-scale abuses of humans & animals.

Only language the Chinese will understand if you do the same to them. Need to send cannibles to cut their hands and cut, cook them finally make the soup. May be that's the language need to speak.

White House petition signed. #87.

Copy and paste the link in the petition to see pictures of shark fins drying on rooftops.

Several species of shark have gone extinct. This practice of shark finning must be stopped!

Signed. I guess all of us (including non US) could create an account here to sign it. Please try to do so. A bit sad because we're still so far from reaching the target but many of us perhaps didn't find how to sign there although they would like too.
