Legislators in states controlled by Republicans are pondering a change in how Electoral College votes are awarded that might make it easier for GOP candidates to win the White House.

Wary??? How about an immediate smack down like the GOP would do. Stop with the wishy-washy bullcrap and call it what it is...VOTER FRAUD!

Roseann, control yourself. The electoral college should never have existed. This was a purely a political undertaking to control citizen's rights to actually count. If this never existed, Nixon would have won over Kennedy, and Romney would have won over Obama.
It's time for the American people to actually be able to elect a person of their choice. The only voter fraud Roseann is the electorate.

Thanks Cal for the link to the article. The Electoral College needs to be done away with so the President can be elected by popular vote. Read and noted

I can't believe they are not divided proportionally, unless you want to show unity. Th problem is when someone takes unity and makes it a mandate.

since mr obama won the popular vote, i do not see how you can say romney would have won if there was no electoral college. i'm for electing the president by popular vote, but i sure would want some international monitoring of the voting. republican businessmen make the voting machines, republicans are pros at jerrymandering. i don't know if all votes have yet to be counted in some states.

If at first you don't succeed, just keep changing the rules until somehow, by hook or crook, the GOP win the White House....

How long will we sit and watch them cheat us out of our democracy?

So.....they were for the Constitution until they were against it.
Look, we need a simple popular vote for the Presidency. BUT, short of that, keep the Electoral College the way it is.

Get rid of the Electoral College dinosaur! Short of that, Dems should follow suit to their favor in Dem controlled states.

Just get rid of the electoral college, allow for a real vote

Everyone should be weary. The proposed changes would give the Republicans more ways to "win" elections in which the majority of Americans have voted for the other side. It is tantamount to cheating, and we should not allow it to happen.

Fortunately, that can not be just gerrymandered into existence.

The electoral college is one of the obstacles in the way of allowing third parties to become significant and allowed into presidential debates. Many changes are necessary.

"So far, Republicans have only advocated for the change in states that have supported Democrats in recent elections. The view is predictably different in states where the Republican nominee is a cinch to win."

Interesting how the Repugs only want to change the rules in states they lost. Oh, well, since voter suppression didn't work too well for them, it's only reasonable for them to go after the Electoral College. I smell desperation!

The only acceptable solution is to dump this archaic and elitist system of election in favor of the popular vote.

Well, I have always had a soft spot for the electoral college (without it we would not have had John Quincy Adams), but this Greed Old Pig plan converts me. Time to get rid of it.

We are smart enough to read and write which most folks couldn't do when this was set up. Are they hoping with cuts to education that we will go back to needing someone else to decide who to vote for? There's a conspiracy theory to ponder.
